1998 silverado straight pipe questions/gas mileage

Okay,

my question is that i am looking to straight pipe my 1998 silverado i just bought with a 5.7. I used to own a 2001 silverado but it was a 4.3 v6 and that was straight piped but i got horrible gas mileage. i am looking to get an aggressive sound out of my 1998 i just bought and was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on how to get that sound without killing my gas mileage and possibly avoiding a new muffler.

Mines a 2000 and its set up with true dual 2.5" pipes and 3" tips dumped over the rear. I didn't take a hit in mpg that I noticed but I did lose some low end get up and go

Do as the above, some gnarly sounding mufflers would be cherry bomb extremes, which I have, or some straight through dynoax bullets.

true duals no mufflers with the cats still on, sounds really good. No X pipe or any of that stuff just two pipes coming from each side of the motor. I can still pull 14.5 mpg mabe 15 cruising on the interstate at 75... Can get 15 mabe 16 or so cruising at 55-60...This is with no tuning or intake, and 285/75/16s with a heavy brush guard and winch on the front.

Your 350 will sound good true dualed w no muffler! if you want it louder cut off the cats and get some money! Still want it louder? Then throw on a set of longtube headers!!! You will wake the dead
