would you buy the V6?

i drove a new V6 yesterday. It was at a training event in atlanta. the engine felt good, it was in an all terrain crew cab! I also saw a double cab and got to check it out, it looks really good, saw iridium and cobalt blue and really liked those colors.

If you were getting a new truck tomorrow, how many of you would actually get the v6?

it is $900 less than the 5.3 and gets better in town and one more mpg on the hwy. It's available in SLE and sierra trim levels and in any truck configuration. 70 less hp and 78 less torque.

Nope. I understand the whole MPG battle but IMO a 6 cly does not belong in a 6000+ lb truck. I know they can put out decent HP/Tourque but still, not for me

Not for me either. I never would, even if my situation was different and I wasn't going to be looking for high payload/towing capacities for towing a fifth wheel.

In a couple of years when I replace my 2006 5.3 I will be opting for either the 6.2L Max Towing package. Or maybe I'll jump up to a 2500 or 3500 SRW for the peace of mind.

Nope. I could care less about fuel use, any modern half ton is plenty efficient without giving up V8 power.

No. Probably get the 6.2L and the eight speed automatic transmission.

The upcharge for the bigger motor is pure profit since the cost of the base motor is included in the price of the truck and the 5.3L is probably the cheapest of the three due to the economy of scale.

Nope. I will pay the $900 more and have the much more powerful V8. Of course i would rather have the 6.2L.

Now if they were to put this engine in the Tahoe, and I was to get a Tahoe for the wife, then I might think about the V6. It would be nice to have a little bit better MPGS in a kid hauler

I'm going with the 5.3 but if I was buying a basic base model regular cab with short bed and 2 wheel drive I might consider it. On the other hand the 6.2 is way more than I need.
