Possible TPMS problem.

A few days ago, I got some friends and the wife in the truck and headed out to eat.

While driving, I noticed the TPMS light on and the DIC saying to check the right rear tire.

The pressure was showing 22 lbs.

So I turned around and went home.

I left for vacation the next day and didn't have time to mess with it.

Today I checked the tire pressure with two (2) different gauges and they both read around 35 - 38 lbs.

I start the truck and the light is still on and the DIC says to check right rear tire pressure.

It says it has 17 lbs in the right rear tire, so I checked both rear tires and they both are fine.

I don't have time to be doing the relearn process so I am going to the dealer.

Why did I buy the extended warranty if this is not the type of things I bought it for?

I will keep you posted.

Check all four. Someone may have rotated the tires and not re-learned the sensors (they don't know where they are).

Stupid Idiots...

The dealer rotated the tires last oil change.

I bet they didn't do it because it is the front left tire that was almost
flat. I found a nail in the tire after inspecting it.

I am going down there tomorrow and giving them HELL.

I gave up being an auto mechanic when I broke my back in 1997. I guess I am
going to have to learn everything about this truck so I can make sure these
idiots do the job they are supposed to.

I would have kept driving around with a flat tire thinking it was the TPMS
that was in error.

I went down today and got them to replace the tire. My old tire still had 8/32 tread on it. They have 11/32 when new.

I went with the same Goodyear Eagle LS2.

I thought it was going to be more expensive, but it was only $217.00, taxes, and labor.

I also told them to reset the TPMS on all the tires.

While I was there, I took a look at the new Silverados.

Glad they took care of you. The TPMS light came on in my rental Kia coming back from Chicago today. Stopped and all four had proper pressures. Grabbed some awful McDonald's for dinner and when I came out the light was off. Weird but I also don't care. Just really, really glad I didn't have to change a tire on the side of the interstate in the near 100 degree heat.

I know where I worked some of the guys would skip resetting the TPMS due to some vichiles will reset themselves ( usually newer vechiles ) and others only give an indication without telling which tire. Just a shortcut they will take and most people won't say anything.
