GM will not recal the computer for larger than stock. You will have to get a custom tune or god forbid a programmer to do that

With such a small difference in tire size, does it really matter? Is there any benefit to it?

His statement is incorrect. GM WILL re-calibrate it but they wont do anything for your particular size yet. The only size they've done right now is 35-36"

Only thing is a piece of mind, as long as you're aware you're actual speed is higher that displayed you're fine.

Programmer will void warranty even for just tire size because they can not tell a difference between different tunes, just logs as a change. Before anyone says it; GM can't technically void a warranty like that but good luck fighting them for it.

Thanks for the info! I think I will be better off just leaving well enough alone!!

Just ask your dealer periodically if they can fix it for you. As of now there shouldn't be anything

A GPS or smartphone will tell you how fast you're going compared to what the speedometer says, then you can adjust accordingly.

I am looking to change the stance of my 2014 silverado 4x4 and have been doing a lot of reading on the topic. I have a few questions I am hoping you all can help me with before I place my order.

1) I plan on going with the rough country 2.5 leveling + 1 rear. I park in a parking ramp at work with 7' max clearance will my truck still fit with ease?

2) I plan on putting on 20" wheels with +18 offset. For tires I want Nitto Terra Grapplers I am debating on going with either 305/55/r20 P rated tires or 275/65/r20 LT rated tires.

A) Will either of these fit with no rubbing once so ever even at full lock?

B) Which option would give me better ride quality?

C) Which option would give me better mpg?

I appreciate everyone's help!

1) with ease..? It will be close I think. I just went in a 8'6 structure today and seemed to be enough room with a 2.5" only Front level. Maybe someone with a RC Kit can get a measurement

2)IF it were nMe I would go with the 305s cause your speedo wont be off as much and the trans will be happier selecting gears

A) seems people with 305s and stockers, rub the front sway but with +18 it would prob clear that but then could possibly make contact with the fender linners.

B) both LT should ride the same. youll Notice the level more

C) thats a toss up since 305s are wider so they have a higher rolling resistance but the 275s are an inch taller but thinner for a lower rolling resistance. It'll come down to weight vs rolling resistance IMO so no real #s to compare. I'd pick which ever ones look better to ya.

Was this on stock tires? If so, can you get me a picture from further away. I'm trying to decide if I like it with the stock tires or if I need to wait until I can afford 33's. Thanks in advance.

    • Yep! This should be a pin somewhere as @pgamboa really dives into all of this. Thanks for reposting the link!
    • I did the new thermostat after doing a 'flip' for a year. Runs as cool one way as the other in the summer but in the winter there is a bit of a floor. Yellow with the new 70 C thermostat. My data over the life of the unit to date. Still need more cooler. Anyway that floor helped both winter fuel economy and shift quality in the winter. I found it a good balance.
    • Evan Williams Bottled in Bond   So pouring the last of a bottle of Evan Williams Black label last night I set off the the state store for a refill only to be denied the by an empty shelf. Rats.    What the did have was a bottle of Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. 100 proof. Hum, a few bucks more but a known distiller. Lets have a swing at it. ( I have before )    Cracked it open and pour a serving over ice. Hum.... more heat, yes. More alcohol naturally. But the barreling not the proof brings the taste and this one came up short.    Oh is was familiar but the heat ran the barrel over like a Peterbilt runs over a squirrel. Could use a heavier toasting of the oak me thinks or perhaps a longer barreling. Who knows. But what I can say is ice or a water back isn't the answer. What kills one kills them both. Sad. It is a pleasant drink....if you have little to compare it to.
    • I've had exactly one set of Bridgestone. Lasted five year and 125,000 miles and had I known better 15oK would have been a cake walk. I would have bought a like set had they not tripled in price since the first set. I removed them at said mileage with 5/32" remaining in dead even wear all four. They were fuel efficient, quite, comfortable and predictable.    Early on I got a very good alignment checked at least once a year, sometimes twice; kept the tires properly inflated, balanced and rotated. And I've found that many a tire issue can be avoided with great maintenance practices. Lot's of tire dealers will do rotation and balance (simple) for free for as long as you own the tire they sold you so no excuse not to.    Bead prep, alloy integrity and stem health have a huge impact on inflation stability. There are more mountings done poorly that perfectly. Finding a good tire guy is gold and as important as finding a tire you like.    That 3X price increase now two sets of "other tires' later is starting look like a bargain.      Bad maintenance kills more tires than bad tires.
    • Atlas, you kill me As aggravating as a project like this can be you have been unable to hide your fascination with learning and using that angst against this beast like a Ninjitsu Master. It amuses you, admit it now.      BTW, love your writing style. 😉
