LS7 with a 6 speed manual. Either AWD or RWD. Or a twin turbo 6.2L

Oh that's cute, they still have the dash shifter on their "performance" truck... haha

I'd rather see GM offer an answer to the Ram Express trim- big engine, basic power equipment and nice wheels. As nice as it is to see the sport trucks, they end up overladen with junk so they don't end up being very fast and cost too much money.

If they offer a manual (which they won't) it better only be an option. Manuals are slower in the real world.

^^^ Agreed. All GM needs to give us is a 6.2L in a RCSB with LT interior and nice 20" wheels. Sell that at a price point that will compete with the Ram Express and I think it will sell like mad. The reason GM never sells large amounts of these specialty vehicles is because they load them up with tons of crap that nobody wants and lists them for 45K.Take the Trailblazer SS for instance, you could get that in a 1SS with basic options, nice 20's, and the 6.0L.

They did that with the silverado ss in 2006. The Ram R/T is nice. Big engine, rcsb, 4.10's

It kills me to say it but I'm really curious to see what the F150 Tremor goes for. The Ecoboost in that small of a truck with 4.10s ought to be a beast. But with leather and all that junk I bet it goes for nearly $40k.

Manuals depend on who is behind the wheel, in my experience at least. But now that they have gotten a lot better with auto's you might be right, and you can tune an automatic tranny...

Two equal vehicles the auto will win in the real world. To get the "superior" numbers the magazines get out of manual cars you have to be willing to do things most owners won't. It's much easier/less worrisome to thrash on a press fleet car than something you likely paid $30k or more for. Plus most truck transmissions suck- long clutch and shifter travel. There is a reason no one who drag races runs a manual.

Posted

My only experience with manuals doing drags is my buddies 302 Mustangs (91 and 94). I was just applying the same concepts to a truck cause thats all I know. And obviously that was 20 years ago, so auto's have deifinently improved since then

Even a turbo 350 from the late 60's against a tight ratio manual will have the auto win.... you can't outshift hydraulics. Manuals can be fun to drive I agree but a pickup will have some useless dumptruck transmission. .. so pass. If I bought a Cadillac cts v today.... hands down.... manual. It will be slower but I can't stand the 6L90E... or 6L80E so that's preference outweighing potential et's.

I like the LS7 idea, or moding the 6.2. I agree w/ MikeNH, GM could probably steal some sales if the offered their version of the tradesman.

Most of Chrysler's special edition vehicles of late have been nothing different performance wise than their regular offerings. Mostly just different stripes, colors, etc. I wonder if this will be any different?

The SSS was not a RCSB though... but I know what you are saying.
