'13 vs. '14 Rebate ?

So I am trying to convince the better half of the advantage of the 2500 vs 1500 for the travel trailer. Right now the '13 rebates are $1500 more than the '14's. Is this enough of a difference to go with a '13 if we go for it? Or will there be a bigger value loss off as soon as we drive off the lot due to the '13 being a model year old.

The plan wll be to keep this truck for while. Last truck was 10yrs, current is about 3 1/4 yrs, only reason thinking new already is due to being right near the limits of a 1500.

TY!

If it is only $1500 I would go for the newer one. If you are getting a 2500 it is going to be the same truck. Don't believe they are changing the 2500 until next model year. It is nicer to have the heavier truck but the gas mileage is worse with the 6.0 liter. Not sure on your weight for the travel trailer but it might be safer with the 2500.

In today's market the value will be the same. Trucks are holding the values more and u will take the same hit either way. I personally would take the 13...

Chevyboy86,

Trailer is a little over 7k, tw of about 900. Under axle ratings, but at gvwr. That is with only 4 bikes in the bed. We carry all the coolers and depending on where we are camping- firewood (if able take) in tubs inside the trailer. My wife would LOVE to get the wood tubs and coolers out! Only way that will happen is if we step up to a 2500.

97 & Pop,

TY for the input! If we go for it I think it will come down to what truck is available and what the price is. Dealer only has 1 '13 left and it doesn't even have the tow pkg!!!??? Not spending that much money to have to put a hitch on and still not have the itbc!!!! NO WAY!!!!

Hopefully the rebates continue because I don't see this happening all on Tuesday if we go for it! Just not enough time! If the rebates don't get extended, or increased, then the 1500 will continue to be the tv for now!

TY!

Step up to a 3/4 ton. You won't regret it, you are pulling enough weight often enough to justify it I think...especially now the 13's are going to be cheap pretty soon...

There will definitely be more rebates. Truck month is in october and most people think Thanksgiving and Christmas are best times to get big rebates on leftover models. The only problem is if there is stock of leftover 13's near end of year.

The 2015 duramax will be announced on sept 27th at Texas state fair.

I love the exterior look of the GMT900 2500's but the interior is way behind the new generation. I will pay a bit more and get a 2015 2500. Maybe a 2015 1500 if the 8 speed is out and depending on how great the 6.2 is. The new K2xx trucks will be "new" for the next 7 years if GM stays on its current refresh cycle.

Well.... it turned out the '13's had more "hidden" rebates- a loyalty if you own a GM vehicle, and also if trading in a truck (think it had to be GM) even more off! Ended up with $8500 off a '13 LT CCSB 4x4!!!! Plus the positive from our '10 and the great interest rates right now, our payment is less than the '10!!!

She showed up at the dealer late this afternoon, so we pick her up tomorrow after work (unless I call in!!!!)!!!

Will get some pics tomorrow and start a "I joined the HD CLUB!!!!"!!!!

Best part is the truck was built nearby me in Flint, so it's a "Hometown truck"!

TY again for the input!

TY Derek!!!

At first my wife was against a new truck after only 3 yrs, but when she started doing the math of the potential trade, rebates, and interest rate, she got on board so much so that she wanted a LTZ!!! Just could find one that wasn't loaded to the gill to keep the price down!!! I'm still baffled by that! Lol

As far as interior and options it isn't much different, but overall height and payload have grown, a LOT!!!

Get the mudflaps for the rear to avoid stone chips on the travel trailer.. They will save dings on your unit.

Put the power fuse in for the trailer plug.

Now the Biggie : Total vinyl wrap with camo the truck so it will Blend in with your wifes new Diamond for her finger, she deserves it !!!!!! so does the truck
