Is the V4 sound obtrusive with the windows up?

I have the same system on order and should have it in the next week or so and that is my only concern is how it sounds in V4. Thanks.

You can hear it with the windows up. But I wouldn't say it's obtrusive. It might be if you are riding in silence. But I usually have the radio on so I don't really notice.

Thanks. I guess if it bothers me to much I can hit up BlackBear and get a tune and just be done with V4 anyway.....at least that's how I will justify it.

Perfectly rational and normal explanation to spend $599. :happysad:

Speaking of Blackbear, I just got my tune files from Justin today, I will be installing them this evening. :smoker:

NICE!

Hope to see a report in the engine and transmission tuning thread.

Thread hijack over.... :)

If you want some sound from your truck just put on a Airaid Synthamax. Truck went from quiet to quite the growl. I was surprised at how much louder it is with a different air intake. Only con I would say is when you are towing it can be pretty loud in the truck when it is at 4000 rpm going up a hill.

Just had a new exhaust put on yesterday.

Had it straight piped behind the 2nd Cat.. Sounds Awesome! I will be doing some Mileage testing this weekend.

Next is Cold Air Intake and Tune ( Not Sure Who's Yet)

I will upload a video!

im looking for a cheap exhaust solution to have a deep sound but not too loud. does anybody know what the warranty requirements are in adding an aftermarket exhaust without voiding the warranty?

I think this has been discussed before. If I remember correctly any modification that you do has to be directly found at fault to any warranty problems that occur. With that being said from the cat back, as long as your not removing sensors I can't think why this would be an issue. I put a Flowmaster Super on my 13 Silverado and nothing was said. It was a direct cut out of original and weld in of the Flowmaster.

Traded in the truck and not thinking of aftermarket muffler for my 14 Silverado.

thanks for the response. i was unsure..thought about calling and ask the service dept but didnt want to open up a can of worms. lol. my wife is against me getting an exhaust but i think its so quiet. she says its a gentlemans truck. haha.

Don't get me wrong, I like to hear my engine too. But when you here it and the AFM kicks in you think you hear an elephant farting. LOL... It sounds sick.

You can do a work around with the Range AFM device or should I say a lockout of the AFM in the truck... it keeps the truck in V8 mode 100% of the time. Sounds better IMHO..

I have a Magnaflow 14 in. single in duel out. V4 sounds like , feels like HELL! But drive in M5 and throw the coals to it and it sounds MEAN. Gotten a lot of looks and thumbs up. Oh, Did I mention I also have turndowns before the rear axle. Turns the entire bed into a resonator. This is also a fix for the "SNAP, CRACKEL, POP" problem.

Ls engines like to breath. My 10 camaro ss woke up with longtube headers/high flow cats. I left original exhaust on except for a axle back. I think the dollars spent on a catback would be better spent on headers. I also added a vara ram cai.

I also wanted better sound without it being too loud, so I just pulled some copper wire out of a piece of Romex and used it to hold open the flapper adaptive valve behind the stock muffler. Now it sounds nice and deep at startup and low RPM's when V4 is on. Maybe it's because the exhaust is still stock, but I notice zero annoying helicopter sound when V4 AFM kicks in and have had it cruising at speeds up to 80 mph. Oh yeah and it was free with no warranty concerns. Still may do an aftermarket exhaust later but for now am very happy.
