2014 Exhaust

Recommended Posts

I was thinking of adding a cat back system. I have not found much on HP and TQ results. Anyone point me in the right direction? What did you use and why?

Exhausts don't really add much in the way of power, mostly just ear candy. Duals tend to cost some power down low, but add more at upper RPM levels. Personally, I have a dB (Corsa) exhaust on my 2011 and wouldn't consider anything else for a GM V8.

This is a video I made after installing it in June of 2011:

which exhaust set is that set up is that and who did your tune? If my 09 shifted like that I would never tune...(if I heard that drive out right)

dB Exhaust. Corsa's less expensive brand using lower grade stainless. 3" pipe all the way, single exit. Tune at that time was done by General Motors (stock  ). And it sounds weird because I let off about where it shifted I think on each run because I didn't think the camera would pick up audio good as I got further away. The only clean shifts are during the interior audio at the end. Truck is now Blackbear tuned.

Exhausts usually don't do squat for power, but these are some pretty restrictive setup s hence the lack of any sound whatsoever, but still you may only gain like 5hp. Long tube headers and hi-flo cats are where it's at, or no cats at all.

As far as I know there are no tuners out there for these trucks right now, what you want for some real nice power gains and way way wayyyy better shifting is a custom dyno tune followed up by a street tune.

I have a flowmaster catback, that and magnaflow are the only options out there. Normally I'd to w/ magnaflow but it was almost twice the price and they're both 409 stainless whereas flowmaster is usually alumnized mild steel, since they're both made from the same grade stainless I figured go for the cheaper system, also I like that you can run the flowmaster out the side or straight back in the same system.

If you're going to add a catback keep in mind it may very well sound like dog crap no matter how much you spend because of the AFM system, when it goes into 4 cyl mode it'll drone like a bastard, which is partially why I went w. the flowmaster, it's pretty tame. Adding j pipes to the muffler can help w/ drone.

If you're worried about exhaust flow, you're barking up the wrong tree with a "flowmaster". They are more restrictive than the stock muffler.

OP, many people on here have replaced just the muffler and kept the stock piping. It will sound the same as a catback, but the cost to switch out just the muffler is much lower.

Whatever you do, it's unlikely you'll gain much but sound. Still worth it IMO.

Seconding this, Corsa is pretty much all I use these days. The construction is fantastic and the lack of drone is a big plus, especially with headers. The Corsa system is also about as unrestrictive as you can get for an exhaust. The muffler is a straight through pipe with channels cut around the circumference for the various passages for the destructive interference at specific frequencies.

I don't think any of 'em help much. Like I said I got a flowmaster because the price was right, it was stainless, it had side exit pipes, and there's nothing else out there besides magnaflow which was more $$$ and I've already had some magnaflow mufflers on my G8 they were OK kinda tame, but I've always done custom exhausts- G8 system went sterling coated JBA long tubes, custom 3" connection pipes into 2.5" magnaflow X pipe into 2.5" straight pipe, into magnaflow axlebacks. If I don't like the sound of the flowmaster I'll swap out the muffler - that's what's nice about a flowmaster system - I could go w/ borla or corsa or whatever else. I just like the side exit pipes and wanted to hear "something".

I wouldn't want to just cut up the stock catback just yet, I think it would be wise to keep it intact in case I wanna go back to "quiet" mode and cat get rid of the drone

I too will be getting Corsa for my 2014. I have had Corsa on every vehicle since I was 18 (27 now) and it's the only option in my opinion lol. I emailed them a few weeks ago and they told me the kits should be out first month of 2014.

I have Corsa Sport on my truck sounds great. V4 mode has a little "helicopter" sound, but soon AFM will be tuned out.

Is the V4 sound obtrusive with the windows up?

I have the same system on order and should have it in the next week or so and that is my only concern is how it sounds in V4. Thanks.
