I don't think it would work. My stock HMI does not have the port for the antenna plug. You would have to open the case to see it you could mod it internally.

Well....... heck! Lack of an antenna jack sure is a floater in the punchbowl.

Back to the drawing board.

i use the on star system, it just shows an arrow on your screen if you are gonna make a right or left and shows how close to the turn your getting put thats it, very basic plus the voice telling you that a turn is comming up. It also shows the arrow on the little screen between the gauge clusters

That will go away when your 6 month onstar trial ends...

That is not entirely true!! If you download the Onstar Mobile App on your smartphone you can continue to use the features of the app for 5 years. So when you 6 month trial ends you can still go on your mobile app and put in your directions and it will send the directions to your MyLink!!! The app will also let you lock, unlock, start truck, shut off truck, make horn honk, and shut horn off!!!

Mine is working. On star was less grief then XM getting the system updated. Not overly thrilled with the maps though, however that is just GM that needs to add some better graphics. Other than that quite seamless integration on a 2015 Tahoe

If you have mylink (even the small 4.3 screen) then you have nav. You have to download the onstar app pn your phone and as long as you have gps on your phone, it will use that signal and allow you to have turn by turn with audio and visual nav on in your truck. Just figured it out myself today and it works great consdering it's free.

Only good if you have an active account. How is that free?

Okay...figured out the XM and OnStar thing. XM handled everything over the phone and traffic/weather/fuel popped in immediately. OnStar was a little longer. One phone call to complain on Saturday. Monday afternoon technical assistance called me and informed me that it required a manual account update on their end. Now my onstar app has two options: one for standard onstar turn by turn and one for send to vehicle navigation.

calgator, does your truck have factory navigation? I ordered travellink from XM, but no way to open a map? The onStar app only says "call onStar".. confused!

Nope... All I did was hit the OnStar button and spoke to a rep. I insisted that my truck had the factory nav. They confirmed my Vin and had tech support call me back a couple days later.

I got tired of being on hold with onstar and XM radio about it. If I were ever going to continue the onstar service or XM weather after the free preview, I would have tried harder.

I did find it funny that both pushed back on turning me on during the free preview, when the purpose of the free preview is for you to try it, like it, and buy it when the preview period expires.

I am about to order from kodiakz it looks like best option. I considered just a garmin or using I pad mini, but this dash is rather tight and I hate the clutter. This is being used as my wife's daily driver and our tow vehicle for our 28' airstream so having a good gps is essential.

Did you gave any issues with onstar recognize the new unit? I have to say the turn by turn is kind of cool when directions sent from the remote link map, but seems pricy over long run and no ability to see map other than next turn.

No issues recognizing the new unit. It was truely plug and play.

    • Can ask that about a lot of places.   Holiday sells 91 for $1 over 87 octane. BP 93 is 80 cents. Amoco 93 is 80 cents Kwik Trips is $1.20 for 92 or whatever they have and $1 for the 91.   I know that this is not exactly same as what you are saying with the premium to premium debate of those two stations but why is there such a difference. Top Tier this and that, it's all BS. All the fuel comes from the same damn refinery, so give me a break.
    • Why does Mobil Premium cost 90 cents a gallon more than Shell Premium when their regular offerings are but pennies apart?
    • Was all the way down to $3.69 a gallon but then jumped back to $3.99 just because for some reason.   Diesel floats between $4.80's to $5.10ish a gallon. I even saw Diesel #1 for $6.09 today but nobody in there right mind even buys that in the summer.
    • Mine just keeps lagging or getting stuck on the reverse camera. When I turn off the truck, get out, and close the door it will still stay on. It’s very intermittent and I would not be able to duplicate the issue.
    • I was checking out fuel prices at my farm fuel retailer at their pumps and yes the farm price is a bit lower than the non dyed fuel and was glad to see that the regular farm gas price has dropped a lot from what it had been but what blew me away was the price of diesel as the spread now compared to before the prices went up earlier in the year, diesel was actually slightly lower than gas which was a switch from the theme the last number of years. However that sure isn't the theme lately and definitely not right now. The prices I will post are not from that retailer but just looking at gasbuddy for the main city in this area and instead of posting the lowest price someone found I will list the higher price ( and that may not be the highest price, just whatever someone posted on gasbuddy ).   So regular gas and there are a lot of stations listing the same price for regular is 1.68 a liter, premium 2.00 a liter. Diesel 2.03 a liter for a top price I saw on diesel.   Figures out to 6.36 a us gallon Canadian funds for regular and 7.68 for diesel. With the US exchange rate it would be 4.58 us for regular and 5.53 for diesel.    Thought I would figure that out to get a picture of what it settles out like compared to various US prices and its about the same as the current price in Fairbanks AK as Anchorage tends to be lower. So yes, these would be the prices and higher along the way on the Alaska highway where they know they have a captured market !, for fuel prices for those beginning the long drive back to the lower 48   The problem is our Canadian dollar and going to the states that have the high prices, boy do we pay then !
