Chirping Noise What is it????

If it is bearing related time for a rebuild, short block or crate engine being dropped in. I think you'll find a bearing sheared when it's pulled apart. But this is being diagnosed over the internet, so ymmv

Again, that ain't a chirp sound. :)

Yes Bob i know it sounds unusual but i have never had any issues in all the vehicles we run. and i know ive been listening to this sound so often i dont even know what to call it. I have been looking online do you think i might be better off just buying a good used engine and dropping it in for the money??

Lasts longer? How so?

I would suspect he means less oil consumption (even if not excessive, as he states) which is quite logical.

I would not, however, recommend W15-40.....

As Bob said I have found there to be less oil consumption with the 15-40 and it is really a preference i was taught that and have never really ran anything else but in the past with 30 i have found their is higher consumption.

Like you suggested, a good, low mile used engine is your best option. You could pick a good core and rebuild it if you were planning on keeping this for quite some time, it all depends how much you want to spend.

The main reason I suggest you stick with a 30w oil is simply to help with dry starts. I would rather add a liter/qt of oil once a month or so than be replacing an engine due to insufficient lube. Personally, I like to have engines that are happy hitting the redline regularily. in order to do that without fear, I need to be sure there's going to be oil there.

I have a 1995 sunfire 2.2 I use as a beater when I'm in trade school, and it see's 6500 just about every time I drive it. That being said, I'm the only one in history, (guiness`s confirmed) to run mobil 1 5w30 in a 2.2

Pick a good donor, preferably with less than 100k miles and don't pay more than 6-700. With oil, filter, miscellaneous seals and gaskets, etc, you can expect to spend $1000-1200 not including labor.

If you plan to keep the truck, its really not an expensive ordeal. That Chincy pile of parts putting the power to the wheels is the real wallet killer.

Thats what i think ill do because its probably just as quick and cheap to swap the engine than pull the old one out and try to fix its ashame because i really love that truck

Remove the starter and check the torque converter bolts, I have seen one loosen out and it ended up banging on the rear oil seal cover
