Child Seats in Double Cab

Different needs, different wants, different trucks.

That's why they make so many versions.

Correct. I went from a RC 8' bed to a ext cab 6.5' bed and now a CC with a 6.5' bed. Each time I had a different reason to upsize. Had my 3-door ext cab been a 4-door ext cab, I'd likely have waited longer before getting a new truck. Might even still be driving it. The 3-door just wasn't practical for a family of 4 with small kids.

I had a double cab with my baby girl. It SUCKED! Riding my 8 mth old with my 6year old with my wife basically sitting in the windshield was not comfortable at all! Traded it for a crew! Couldnt be happier with the big difference in space. The doors are bigger so car seat goes in/out without a fight. Putting car seat in/out of the double cab SUCKED!! My wife can sit comfortable now. AND we're having our 3rd child so the dc is mostly for people with no kids if you ask me. I bought it not really educated on the silverados. (Long story) lol but i love my cc but miss the color of my dc.

We had the 2008 GMC sierra ext. cab with suicide doors on both sides and car seat rear facing. It is very tight and front seat has to be pushed all the way up. Make it 2 rear facing and you grow to hate the truck. Now have 2014 crew cab.

Yeah I could see myself going back to a double cab after the kids are grown and have their own vehicles. But the only way to have a truck and haul a family for me is to get a crew cab. I also love my open bed but I could see myself eventually putting a camper shell on the truck and making it more of a travel vehicle too.

I bought a Fold-A-Cover G4 Elite shortly after I got the truck. Comes in handy with family trips. I usually keep it closed all the time, but if I need all the bed I can fold it up in 30 seconds or take it completely off in less than 5 mins.

If you do a lot of trips and or shopping, etc. with your truck, it comes in handy.

Theres lots of options. I have opted for an open box with tool box. But last truck I had a trifold. it clamps in 4 places near the back of the bed and the front. Its a quick clamp made of plastic, so no damage to the truck. Open tail gate open the two clamps and it folds back towards the cab clicking in place leaving 3/4 of your bed open, takes 2mins tops. unclip all clamps and you can take it out of the truck or set it to the side, this takes all of 2-3 mins.

I had an 09 Chevy crew cab and could get my five month old's car seat I without movingly seat way up. I went with the 14 cc, and have no issues with having to move the seat. My five test old sits in a booster seat now, he had plenty of room to grow into as I plan on keeping this truck for as long ax I can

Nice I may go this route. I don't want to get a toolbox with a crew cab/short bed because it eats so much of the bed space up. If I still had a double cab maybe. But this trifold cover sounds perfect. I like the plastic clips so it doesn't harm the truck.

No no its nice. Theres no pre install of anything, no button, velcro etc. No ribs to worry about as they are pre-built in. Best thing of its off in 2mins or less. putting back on is easy, maybe it takes another min or two to put back on if you take completely off as you have to make sure its centered etc.

But back to the OP if you want the most space ford CC have the most.

    • Late reply, but yes—it works on the SLT trim. Compatibility comes down to the plastic shroud shape behind your mirror, not the trim badge itself. On the SLT with auto-dimming, it uses a plug-and-play Y-harness off the mirror/rain sensor power, so no need to run wires down to the OBD port. If anyone's ever unsure about fitment, just drop a photo of your mirror housing and we can double-check it.   Appreciate the detailed feedback on the install! On the windshield glare—we actually took feedback like yours and developed a dedicated CPL (polarizer) filter to cut down dash reflections on sunny days. If you're still running the cam, shoot me a DM. I'd be happy to send a CPL filter over for you to test out—no charge.
    • There are no stickers in your glovebox?
    • Look at the numbers on the stickers in the door jam...
    • Yes, every time the developer updates his code, you must recompile. I will private message you with the latest because it changes pretty much with every version.
    • After I wrote that reply I went for a ride. 85 F out. So trans started at 85 F and it shifted the same as it did an hour latter at 168 F. I've never actually recorded the to cold to shift point but it is under 32 F before they start hanging on to a lower gear or leaving the converter unlocked. Both intended to heat fluid.    Yes, brake or bake. Absolutely.      Your welcome. True research ended decades ago. Field trials are still in play.    There is a thing called oxidation onset temperature. This is the heat related oxidation not the O2 exposure kind. For mineral oil that starts at 140 F. So what happens after 140 F? Each 20 F cuts fluid life in half! Does using a Full Synthetic improve that? Yes! By how much? Depends on the base oil type and a few other factors. But enough to notice. Some esters are even higher. There are even synergies between types the will raise it higher than any one component is alone.    Then there is "Hindered" oils. Antioxidant additives. Hindered Polyol Esters can sit at 500 F for years in a turbine.   When a blender brags his oil will 'take 500 F" in service he doesn't specify for how long. Water will dance on a 500 F hot plate for several seconds. @newdude put up a chart showing the relationship between fluid temperature and it's life in an automatic transmission. Here's a version of that chart for Group III based oils. These temperatures are those in the pan as observed as 'normal'. that is you drive as you do for as long as you do under what load you ask of it and whatever that temperature is this graph applies to. Flash temperatures of a few minutes isn't what his means.    Note that fluids held at a constant 240 F have a service life of only 20K miles. 220 F explains the factory exchange limit, eh? My equipment I keep under 180 F and I'm good if the cooler will hold it as low as 140 F. But that's me.
