GM raised price $1500 on me

Was quoted (and I saw the spec sheet) a price a month ago in late sept. truck is a '14 Sierra SLT CC std box 4WD msrp was $43,900 (without options) now same truck (after being built and invoice creation) before options is $45,410. that's a $1500 jump! this is a trusted dealer and theyre saying the change is all GM and while 1500 is a lot GM does these changes all the time.

 

all I can do now is let them screw me and hope for an incentive in the next 3 weeks while the truck is in transit. not happy!

Typically the dealers are price protected on customer sold orders meaning the price in place at the time the order is pulled is honored regardless the invoice price when the vehicle is built. Ask your dealer why the order wasn't price protected.

My dealer mentioned the price went up about $2,000 for my truck. They raised the price once about $500 and then about another $1,500 when the truck arrived. But they held the deal we made when I ordered the truck and I didn't have to pay the extra $2,000 they just ate it I guess. I even was given two different window stickers that show the two different prices. I think they pretty much had to honor my deal though we had a written agreement and I had a deposit on the truck when I ordered.

My bet is they didn't eat anything, GM covered the difference, it's called price protection. Chrysler did it on my SRT back in 2012 when they raised the price between the order book being opened and production beginning.

Interesting.. The sales manager wasn't to happy about the price increase on my truck but they didn't seem upset about honoring my price or anything so I didn't think much about it. I'm definitely feeling lucky that I got my truck ordered when I did and didn't have to pay $2,000 extra.

Im sorry but if they quoted you , the last thing i would do is bend over and let them have there way! I would tell them you no longer want the truck becuase it no longer is the same as you ordered! Tell them you have allready contacted you local ford dealer and they are happy to accomidate your needs and take your business.

I would also contact GM directly.

I just got my truck last week and did not have to pay the price increase. The truck was on dealer lot though.

I'd let the tries rot on the lot if they did that to me. Let it sit for a week or two and the dealership will come calling...

The same truck I bought 2 weeks ago is now $2,100 more. I never saw an increase in price from manufacter in mid year until now. Usually increase hits when next model year is released.

As I recall there was a recent thread on the price increase-do a search. The price changed Oct 1st so if your order was after that date it's on the dealer for giving you bad info. And sold orders don't get price changes from GM...locked in date of order. Unless your dealer didn't place it as "sold".

Yep, same here and I got a combined $3500 in incentives to boot. I believe I got some of the "new" incentives that are intended to offset the higher price but selected a truck with the lower MSRP. Looks like a once in a model year opportunity we both scored on.

That sounds right according to my dealer. He said we were locked into the invoice price and if GM raised it, GM would still honor the old price as long as the delivery went to me. If I canceled and the dealer took it as stock they'd get hit with the higher price.

 

Given that, I selfishly wouldn't mind if GM raised the prices even more and gave out bigger incentives when I take delivery. ;)
