Adjusting projector headlights

Recommended Posts

Can someone please point me in the right direction to adjust the level/height on the project headlights! I know on my old 98 honda there is a screw on top of the headlight and you can just turn it and the headlights adjust...I'm sure on the projectors it's a little different..help please!

for the Sierra in section 10-38 of the owners manual states headlights are pre-aimed from the factory and no adjustment is needed

Instead of on top, they could be on the back recessed in an hole with the possibility of being some random shape.

There a little white plastic Phillips screw below the front cover under the hood. I'm guessing this adjusts the headlights up or down. I also have a Silverado, so yours may very well be different.

I read on here about someone getting their leveling kit put on at the dealership and they adjusted their headlights for them...there has got to be a way to adjust the headlight though because everyone would be getting blinded by the lights with the trucks being leveled and jacked up..anything that the projector shoots over is very very bright...

I installed a HID kit on my truck and the driver side is slightly higher than the passenger and when I pull up behind someone at the red light my lights are shinning on their side mirrors...and that is very annoying..

It's the screw on top. I adjusted mine when I put my leveling kit on.

Thanks!!

That's always and issue with tall trucks, even some stock ones, when you come up behind someone at a stoplight.

If I had a 12" lift, I'd adjust the lights down below the recommended +0/ -3/4 " drop @ 25 ft. For such a tall truck, I'd try several settings. My first thought is something like 4" drop @ 25 ft. Experiment with it.

I installed the Rigid DOT/SAE street legal fog lights on my Sierra. I'd recommend them for your lifted truck. The fog light position is lower and closer to the legal headlight height requirements. Then do the "fog lights with high beam" mod per my original instructions in post #9 of this link: http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/162734-foglights-on-with-high-beams/ This mod allows you to turn on the fog lights regardless of whether the headlights are on or not. These fog lights are very well controlled beams, with little to no stray light. They are also within the normal lumen output range of headlights. In a situation where you're directly behind someone, such as at a stoplight or other stop-n-go, etc., you could turn the headlight rotary switch to the "parking" position (gives you tail lights, side markers, front markers/LEDs) and then push the fog light button. This effectively cuts off the headlights, but maintains all other lights, then the fog lights substitute for the headlights.
