I just installed the valentine hard wire module in my 2014 Silverado LTZ. Found that the vio/wht wire (4th from edge of connector) was only putting out 9.8 vdc. the vio/yel in the #3 position was a good hot @ 14.2 vdc., and used this one. the black is a good gnd.

To get the friction locks under the 2nd panel out, use a 5/15" X 6" shank, flat blade screwdriver. Just push in the edge of the metal clip and twist against the plastic mount (right up at the roof). They come out easy and with no damage. Thanks to everyone on here for the info on getting into the ceiling panel. I was stumped till you showed me the way.

For those of you who have a 2015 GMC Sierra and the powered onstar mirror, here's the schematic for plugging in the mirror tap or invisicord from the mirror to your radar detector. In this case I'm using the Escort Passport Max2...Using pin #5 for ground and pin #2 for power

Hey guys, new to GM-Trucks forum. Long time tundra guy who made the switch and freakin love the truck! Wanted to give help to anyone looking to do this mod. The difficult part was finding instructions on how to remove the mirror and plastic covering for the Lane departure warning system. (attachment). Once you remove the plastic pieces covering the mirror you can remove the mirror with the allen wrench to unplug the connection.

The plug taps for the onstar mirror are 1) 12V hot is Pin #2 Violet with green stripe wire 2) Ground is Pin # 5 solid black wire.

I used the blend mount in my prior vehicles so decided to stick with this. It cost more than the others (performance package and rogue mounts). You can use the mirror tap or cheaper invisicord. I chose to go with the latter (invisicord #N01PL micro version 16 inch with fuse). 12 inch length could work but make sure you use the micro connector taps. Not a difficult to do. Be careful when removing plastic piece number 2 on the diagram. The side tabs can stretch and break easily. other than that a piece of cake...

Which blend mount did you use? 001? I don't have lane departure, so there is no exposed wires, and no exposed plug?

Looking at installing my STi Driver into the truck shortly. I'll use the visor clip on the passenger side. Would like to run power to it from the centre console. I do not have lane departure system.

The mount is a blendmount (https://store.blendmount.com/mirror-id-gmc-003-c2752.aspx). The blendmount itself clamps to the mirror leg and it can depend on what kind of mirror setup you have. The unit quickly slides into the mount and latches in, it's easy to take off when you need to leave your truck and don't like the neighborhood lol. The power is a mirrortap cord...I'll get out there and get a pic from the backside between rain showers! ...supposed to be 30 degrees tonight here in TX! The setup is actually pretty nondescript (no, not exactly stealthy) tho and there's no cables to get in the way or to hardwire across the roofline and the A pillar down to the BCM or other power....

Does anyone happen to know what gauge these wires are? I am guessing 22 or 24?

What do you recommend for length of the wire tap? Thanks

I would go with a 12" to give you a little room since it plugs into the connector within the mirror at the top of the windshield. 15" gives you more than enough and you will have to tuck it in. I went with the mirrortap as it has the inline fuses incorporated....
