What to grab when closing doors?!

Recommended Posts

So I've had my truck a week or so now and yesterday when I took all my buddies to lunch they pointed out something I have noticed since day one. When you close the doors after you get out, what the heck do you push on? There is either all paint around the frame or a chrome handle... Every vehicle I ever had in the past had a black or plastic pillar to the right for this purpose. To further this concern, what about people that wear rings? We all know the ring scratches around handles are a common problem, but now we are going to get ring scratches all over our doors because people have no where else to push when closing them.

Any one else notice this?

You are way overthinking things. Just give the door a push and let it close.

With what, my finger tips? When I close a door or a flat surface, the end of my palm to my finger tips are usually touching the surface (unless this is not normal haha).

I noticed the same thing after having passengers in the back i had fingerprints all along the pillar. I was confused why i never noticed this on my last truck.

I grab the inside of the door where there is a pocket. Then I fling it closed and pull my hand out. Especially right after I wax it.

Push the glass you will just have to clean the glass all the time

I had to adjust to the door handles on the inside. It took me a couple of weeks to get accustomed to the location of the handle on the inside of the door as it is farther forward than on my '09. I found myself grabbing nothing when climbing in and trying to close the door. Not a complaint, just re-training myself.

Wow, talk about complaining over silly little things. Whats next? Complaining that the heated steering wheal doesnt come on with the autostart?

I've decided to put one floor protector dot on each door next to the handle and then will show and instruct all passengers how to do the single finger poke when closing a door.

wow this thread makes me laugh. Its a truck meant to be driven some people must be super fussy. The places I drive in canada and stuff that gets on my truck finger prints are the last thing I would be worried about,. But each there own.

Grab it and close it. Who cares if there are handprints or fingerprints on the edge where it was grabbed to close? Damn. Wear gloves if it concerns you that much. For heaven's sake don't drive it outside, or unless the temperature is exactly 73.2* with a slight overcast. :ughdance:

Haha obviously I was being sarcastic guys. I don't care for finger prints, my biggest concern is scratches. Every time I look at the paint around one of my cars doors handles, it's atrocious. I don't want the pillar of my truck looking the same way eventually. Look at any other vehicle, most if not all have the black pillar for this exact reason. I'm just surprised that GMC doesn't.
