What to grab when closing doors?!

My truck doesn't have the black pillar thing. I just close my door with my hand, or my elbow. No severe scratches and I'm the second owner of this brick!

I know what you mean. The salesman closed the door on the truck I was looking at. I heard his wedding ring clink on the door, low and behold a scratch under the door handle. '14 Silverado tungsten metallic. Not good. I have the flat black plastic handles, and use that to shut the door.

On my camaro on the drivers side I push with my finger on the metal lock in the door handle. Never have to touch the paint

 

Truck I just use the door handle.

I've always hated seeing hand/finger prints all over car/truck doors. Depending on the style of door, I'll usually push somewhere along the edge of the window, or window trim, or somewhere inconspicuous that isn't a big hand mark all over the door or window.

 

I know, I know, sounds anal ........... yup! Maybe a little O.C.D.!!! It's not like my vehicles are ever perfectly clean - they're not! (even my 'Vette spent the majority of the time in need of a bath) but I HATE seeing finger prints, and especially big hand prints!! (..... it looks like total disrespect for the vehicle ... ESPECIALLY when they are clean!!).

 

I ordered a black truck, so I know it's going to be dirty ~99% of its life, HOWEVER, when it's clean, it'll look AWESOME, and I'll be damned if somebody ruins that with hand prints all over the doors!!! (.............so yeah, I'll be finding the most convenient piece of trim to use to close the door! ).

First, let me say, I am probably one of the most OCD guys on the forum. For me personally, what works the best on my Denali, is to close the door, using my fingertips on the door handle itself. Fingerprints are less noticeable on the handle, and much easier to wipe off. This can be done without a lot of awkward movements and spastic maneuvers. If you don't have chrome door handles, fingerprints still look better on the door handle than anywhere else on the door. Actually it boils down to whatever you are comfortable with. I am glad to hear there are a few others who are concerned about fingerprints, besides me.

Issue all passengers little white gloves and them foot protectors too, don't want them asking where do they put their feet since your carpet is clean.

When it's clean, I use my finger tips by pushing the handle or the black trim around the window frame. I actually mastered this and don't even know I'm doing it now.

So I've had my truck a week or so now and yesterday when I took all my buddies to lunch they pointed out something I have noticed since day one. When you close the doors after you get out, what the heck do you push on? There is either all paint around the frame or a chrome handle... Every vehicle I ever had in the past had a black or plastic pillar to the right for this purpose. To further this concern, what about people that wear rings? We all know the ring scratches around handles are a common problem, but now we are going to get ring scratches all over our doors because people have no where else to push when closing them.

 

Any one else notice this?

lol, most rediculous thing I ever read on here. It's a truck. Maybe I am the only one that buys a truck and uses it for a truck. Are you afraid to put stuff in the box too? ;)

Hahaha....never even thought about it. Keep a good coat of wax on your truck and use the edge of your door. Finger prints will either not show or wipe right off.
