Noobie needs help w/GMC logic

This is my first post. I've been lurking and learning.

 

I've decided that I want a Crew Cab with a 61/2 ft box. I also want a sunroof and a sliding rear window, among other options.

 

I was at a "Stealership" yesterday with the intention of ordering the truck I wanted.

 

Long story short, I was told the the sunroof and sliding rear window are NOT available with the "61/2 ft" box!!!!!

 

What could the bed length have to do with "cab" options???

 

Does anyone else have this combination of equipment?

 

I don't understand.

 

Please help!!!

Unfortunately there are some unexplainable restrictions on certain configurations.

Not true. My dad just had a loaner vehicle from our GMC dealership while his Buick was in for service.

 

It was a 2014 SLT All Terrain Crew Cab 6.5" bed. It had a sunroof AND the rear sliding window.

I do believe they've stopped putting sliding rear windings in at least temporally. There have been issues with them...

That's strange. Perhaps with both installed there isn't enough structural rigidity to the cab in that length. It's the only thing that would make sense, but hopefully GM will just come out and let its customers know (not holding my breath though).

That doesnt make sense. The cab is the same regardless of the bed length.

My order was accepted last week. It is a Silverado LTZ-2LZ with both the sunroof and rear slider in a CC with standard bed. I have verified this week with the dealer that those two options are on there. We'll see if it actually shows up though.

I pick up my 2014 sierra crew cab SLT with a 6.5 box and a sunroof/rear slider tonight ....

It is an SLT. When the "preferred pkg" is selected, it only populated two additions (frt &rr driver assist and heated steering wheel). It should have added the sliding rear window also. It was not available to select as a stand alone option. Neither was the sunroof.

 

The salesman switched screens to a "Shortbed" and all the options were there.

Is it an SLT, or a SL? Why I ask is perhaps it's some new GM move to value the SLT over the SL so they grey out sunroof, sliding glass, etc. Kinda like they do with the SLT All-Terrain and Cooled Seats. The cooled seats with painted bumpers moves you to the denali trim package. Which i'm not to say that's right or wrong that they do it. I believe it's done perhaps for more of a value in getting the denali trim.

Nevermind, if it was a SLT it should have had the sunroof option unless it's some constraint issue they've pulled. Does GMC.com or GMded.com (and click build and price) allow you to add the option, or does it grey it out?

The GMC website(s) (I am eligible for the Supplier Discount) and Truecar will let be build the truck. It is only at the dealership will it NOT build.

Effective 10/28/2013, the following changes will be made to the Vehicle Order Guide:

 

(one of several changes dated 10/28)

 

Crew Cab and Double Cab Interior section-(A48) Window, power, rear sliding, deleted option entirely.

 

Guess if one is wanted, will have to find one already built, unless it reappears.
