Cargo / Dome Light Mod ?

does anyone know if you can make the rear cargo lamp (illuminates the bed) come on when the doors open? Every other truck I have had either defaults to this kind of operation or has a switch for it. I would like to have that come on when the doors are open and even better if it worked with the key fob lock/unlock. Thanks!

Gonna watch this one, more I think about this the more I would like this feature as well....especially for when I'm getting stuff out of the bed of the truck after I get home.

I would be interested in this also.

Or how about it comes on when driving so you can check if everything is still back there without stopping.

I never tried, but while your driving, you cant activate the cargo lamp? Guess I'll try this morning on my way to work.

It would also be nice if the LED lights functioned with the doors opening and closing or the key fob locking/unlocking so people who have tonneau covers would be able to see without having to go into the truck to turn it on.

Agreed! If I get a tonneau cover like I'm planning on after the holidays I'm either going to have to put some more work into identifying what circuit I can easily tap into to tie the cargo/bed lighting into the cab light circuit, or see about running a secondary cargo light switch back to the back of the bed so when i pop open the tailgate I can hit a remote switch under the bed rail on one side to turn the lights on/off without hopping back to the cab.

Amber,

Just to be clear, i think we would all like the rear cargo light on the back of the cab and the led ligts under the rail tomturn on with the doors opening or the key fob activation of locks or unlock

That was one the first Posts I made here, that and a tail gate lock operated by the remote. GM failed in their engineering process for the LEDs in the bed. Who want to have to open the truck, activate the light open the tail gate, you get my point....

Being a newb here and almost afraid to post in the wrong section now, though my question is in regards to the cargo light and also touched on in some of the posts here...so here goes..

I would like to know if there is any way to override the cargo light not being able to be used while driving on my 2014 Silverado. I went through the motions to add a bubble light (which in turn, turned into a small magnetic lightbar..pic2) for snow plowing. (small Meyers Home Plow) I tapped the bubble light into the cargo dome light and it worked perfect using the factory cargo switch. I ran a small power dongle out of the bottom of the light (pic1) so I can remove it as needed and the foam insulation sealed it up nicely... then the horrible reality.. worked great while idling.. put in gear.. no bubble light.. DOH... back up to the auto parts store and bought the two light bar with the cig lighter switch. On my 2010, I simply ran a direct line and put a toggle on the dash which I may end up doing again since I hate having cig lighter cords hanging around.

When snow plowing, I would not mind at all if the cargo light was on along with the bubble light and would not be distracting since I only turn them on when plowing my parent's and my driveways and the flashers would be right behind it from the rear. (I see others would like as a bed check while driving)

Is this at all possible or am I just destined to abandon the cargo power switch?

Thx in advance!

The BCM disables the cargo lamp while the truck is moving unfortunately.
