How is the NAV system on the 2014 Sierra?

The nav system was absolutely horrible on my 2007. Always gave terrible routes. I just use google maps on my iPhone but Id be interested in not having to be distracted by looking at it on the road. How do y'all like the new my link nav system?

Works great so far. It reroute based on traffic conditions, pretty cool. But just like you, I'm use to using my phone maps... I need to start using the NAV more often.

I guess I'm too lazy to type/speak the address to the NAV. It is more convenient to press on the address for my next appointment which open it up in the maps right away

I have used my NAV very little but from what I have used trying to type in destination is a PITA. So using the voice mode to me works much better.

I know this much, I like our nav and overall set up in our 2013 camaro quite a bit more than in my pickup.

I think the Nav is pretty damn good. I have a Nav app on my IPAD and a Garmin also, the oem is just as accurate and like said, it will re-route for traffic.

Much better than earlier GM nav systems, only minor issue for me is there is no home button(that I can find) in destinations. Also wish there was a way to display speed limit on map instead of DIC.

My biggest issue with it: no way to save your current location as a favorite or POI. You can only save a specific address. Not very helpful when you're out in the country.

I like the remotelink to my Nav. Open up the app on your phone. Hit Nav button and punch destination. Once your done just upload to your Nav in your car and it will be there waiting for you when you get in the truck. The only thing I'd like to change is the App uses Google map instead of Bing.

I've used the remote link also. You can also send a destination from mapquest.

Sweet. how? not from the app right? is there some kind of hidden address for our nav system to interface with?

You can send a destination with the onstar app on your phone once you have it set up. If you want to send a destination with mapquest it has a place to click on and and send to onstar. Nice if you are setting at computer planning a trip. I typed one in real quick on my nav screen in a parking lot once also. Seems to work pretty good. Haven't pushed the onstar button and asked for directions yet.

thanks for the tip. I love using the link app n the phone and then sending it to the Nav. much easier.

I've never tried it. I think a garmin is better than any stock system in a vehicle

I've given up on Garmin after 15 years of using their over-hyped products. Doesn't give you next turn instructions until you're 500 feet and three lanes over from where you need to turn. Its favorite phrase is "make the next legal U-Turn" or sending you in circles to get someplace you're parked in front of. I'll take Google Maps, Apple Maps, or Blackberry Maps any day over a Garmin.

The recent nav module from GM is actually pretty darn good.

Just my opinion :-)

In my opinion the factory nav is awesome. I drove to St Louis a couple months ago and it worked flawlessly. Best factory nav one seen IMO.

Also, the OnStar thing only works with an active OnStar subscription. One your trial end so does that unless you pay for OnStar...
