Truck Ordering / Delivery / Purchase Process ?

Hello,

My truck has been off loaded from the train and awaits delivery to my dealer, event 4800.

It does not look like this will happen before the end of the month.

I'm happy with the March incentives, can I close this deal with the dealer before the truck arrives?

I do have the Vin number...thx in advance, Rich

I do not believe so, you need an MSO in order to purchase or register. (manufaturers statement of origin)

Do you really want to pay for something you have not seen anyways, they could drop it off the transport or crash it.

Agreed with above..You dont want to be closing the deal on product you have not seen or confirmed everything you ordered was built.

I've confirmed the build, but good point about possible damage, I didn't think about that, my bad......

Well, hoping for good April incentives then.........

Thanks.....Rich

I guess if you really want a certain truck, then I guess you have to order it made the way you want it. I would think that gives all the leverage to the dealer in negotiating a price, you're basically going to pay full retail. Of the dozens of trucks that the dealer already had, you couldn't pick out one you wanted? Or go to another dealer and find one? And yes, paying for a truck that hasn't gotten there yet seems stupid because it might not make it there. It has to be delivered and there's no guarantee that an accident wont occur or the truck will be damaged loading and unloading it or it might not have all the options you specified. I would assume that if you ordered the truck before the end of the month, then you should get all rebates and incentives that were offered that month, regardless of whether the truck arrived before the end of the month unless a better incentive package is offered for April, you should get to choose which one. Though as I have said before, a new truck in not in my budget so this will never be an issue for me.

It is a Denali 1500 Crew Cab. I ordered it November 24th, they required a $1,500.00 deposit and made the same deal 5 other dealerships offered me. I got $3,700.00 off the MSRP and any rebates, incentives that would be out there when I took Delivery. I took delivery March 1st, onstar was activated March 1st by the sales manager and my check for the balance was dated 3/1/14. They also took my trade on 3/1/14. On 3/1/14 they actually did all the paper work 4 times, sales manager was saying the finance guy kept making mistakes. I was unaware of the Special Value Discount until I saw it on TV a week later.

I called GM to ask why I never got all the rebates, they said I should have. They then asked me for the last 8 of my vin number then told me the dealer shows I purchased it 2/24/14. I looked at my paper work and sure enough they typed in 2/24/14. I called the sales manager he made a ton of excuses which I shot down right away, nonsense. That tells me in my opinion he was covering something up.

I called GM filed a formal complaint and they tell me I did get the rebates. I asked if they had a copy of my paper work they said no. I read the young girl the rebates on my paper work and told her they don't reflect February or March rebates. It's like GM just let the dealers do what ever they want. I told her why would I forfeit 7 days of my warranty on top of loosing rebates.

i've done it twice and as i said before it can be done. Just because something can happen to that exact truck doesn't mean it will. And typically if it does the dealership will still honor the signed paperwork price as long as you put something down.

Your dealer screwed you and you signed a contract with the wrong date. I hope you get any extra owed to you, but you don't have much to work with based on what you said.

I was told by my attorney as long as I didn't write the date in and it was typed by them I have a case that GM should fix with the dealer. If not I will take every legal action against the dealer, sales manager and GM. I will make this very public and get the local news stations involved. Two of them go after company's that work this way and put it on local news stations. I was very sick on 3/1 and was looking for the number I thought was correct.

Dealer can backdate the deal as well if they need to, but as another poster is finding out this can really cause some issues.

Well I put 1500 miles on the truck and so far it is worth every penny. My only complaints....very minor. First the sunglass holder is so small that my kids sunglasses fit in there but not my Oakleys? How does GM overlook this? Full size guys buy full size trucks so Full size guys where big sunglasses?

The truck, engine, LTZ, is the real deal. The GPS is better than Garmin in terms of routes, but the interface on the touch screen take a little to get use to. It doesn't let you pick destinations while you are driving (safety) which sucks when I have a beer in the console :-) Ha Ha.

Speaking of beer holders -- this truck has like 7 ....HAAA

Anyway. My 35 12.50s, lift, Gibson exhaust all shipped. My lift install date is 8 April so I'll post pictures after. The other thing that is annoying is if you have snow/ice on the park assist sensors it beeps out of control.

The Pandora app is awesome.

I haven't stomped the gas to the floor yet -- I'm breaking it in slowly and will put the hammer down when I get the lift, exhaust, etc.

I'm trying to get use to the 0W-20 (8.5 quarts) -- I run AMSOil....so that is quite different from my 2005.

More to come.

Here's my hypothetical situation.

Let's say I ordered a Sierra today. Do I get the rebates that are offered by GM today, or the rebates that will (hopefully) be offered when the truck is delivered to the dealer from the factory after it is built.

Obviously, if it is the latter, I am concerned.

Apologies if this is a foolish question.
