That is what GM said. I understand it's not just GM all the manufactures are the same. I just would think with 'on star' or GPS that it would be possible.

I just hope it gets here soon and the power rear window gets solved. Thanks for the reply.

Local dealer here just received a new pickup in this last week that had the rear slider window. He was confused since he thought it was still not available.

There have been issues with the rear slider and therefore it may or may not come on your truck. Lately it seems they are resurfacing again though. I would have loved to have had one when I ordered but I wasn't given a definite answer so I decided not to go with the package. Kinda sucked but oh well. And yes it seems the tracking for orders is lil to nothing once its on a transport. You will get your truck and forget about those small things as soon as you take off in it! Good luck!

I was just the opposite. I didn't want a sliding rear window but they were supposed to be standard equipment on LTZs and the dealer said he'd try to delete when he placed the order but didn't know if it was possible. My truck arrived, FINALLY, without the slider and a $250 credit on the window sticker that was the "sliding rear window delete". Now I don't know if it was because of the dealer's efforts or not but I was glad whoever was responsible got it done. Hopefully yours will arrive with the slider installed from the factory.

I've just decided that there's no rhyme or reason for the things that GM does but I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Interstate commerce (trucks and rails) are different the FedEx and UPS and subject to gov't regulations and security (Home Land Security etc). They can be tracked if you have the appropriate need and it requires calling automated services at the RR's if you can get the rail car tracking number (dealer can if they want to). Trucks, once dispatched from the rail ramp (where they unload vehicle's for trucks delivery) are at the mercy of the truck drivers schedule who are also regulated as to hours in a day they can drive. While the trucking company might know where the truck is 24/7 that is not something there are willing to share with 3rd parties.

Also, often with larger dealers the have different part of the dealership process incoming vehicles and the new car dept might not be aware a vehicle is on their lot till it been processed in. Now a sharp salesman may know what goes on but the typical response to the customer is that its not here UNTIL the have it ready to deliver. Could be a day or it could be several days depending on how many vehicles they get on a given day. Over a weekend they may get several loads dropped off and the dealer prep dept only works at their pace. Until the vehicle is ready to deliver they are going to tell the customer its not here.

I wanted the rear window delete and got it. Was a source of leak and break ins on previous trucks so just decided this time to do without it.

Never ordered a truck in all my years. Have always had my dealer locate what I wanted. Had an Expedition shipped from two states over once, but still didn't have to order it.

This truck was a dealer locate from about 75 miles away.

Well All,

I just got a call from the dealer. The Eagle has landed. My truck is in. I'm leaving in an hour to pick it up. The dealer said that the power sliding rear window came with the truck? I'm excited but surprised at the lack of dealership and Chevy (GM) being on the same page.

The dealer called GM and asked why the delete code was on the paperwork and subtracted 250.00 from the order but it came with it. Apparently, and this is good to know for all future buyers GM finally fixed the rear power window problem and any LTZ that was ordered that had the delete code got fixed on the line.

I'm excited I got the 3.73 gears and already ordered my 7 inch Rough Country lift, tires, and rims. I also ordered exhaust. I'm going to tint the windows this week. I'll have to take pictures before and after.

I tried to upload pictures but the size limit keeps dropping them? How do you all upload pictures and keep them under size?

Thanks for all the replies. I hope this truck is as good as my 2005. I named him "Big Bill" because after I went to the credit union that is what they handed me :)

Congrats on the new truck. Wished you would have researched the 7" RCX a little more. It's really a stretched 5" kit. So it will be like having a 2" level on top of a 5" kit. It shouldn't be too bad, but a 7" Full throttle suspension (FTS) would have rode better. Good luck, I'm sure it'll look great and PM me if you have any questions bout the lift.

Hi All, I'm new to the forum and lurked for a little bit. Being on other forums I read all the bells and whistles before posting and read a lot of prior posts so I apologize if this has been posted.

I want to get a 6.2 CC, and am in no rush to buy. Likely thinking to wait for '15. Lurking dealer inventories I don't see any 6.2s on the lots. Is there a shortage / limited availability of them? I have a Stealth Grey CTS-V and wanted to get the same color if getting a GMC or Blue Grey Metalic with a Silverado (whichever I get a better deal on). I don't see many of these colors on lots either so I'm thinking that's a double whammy equaling to a special order.

With that being said has anyone gotten deals when ordering their trucks? I def don't want to pay MSRP. With the V I was able to get a small deal (1 because I had to go to three dealerships before being approached) and it is a specialty vehicle. With my Ranger I caught the salesman trying to rip me off, and ended up working a deal where he threw me the keys and pointed saying " Your truck is out there."

Any and all input is appreciated, thanks.

You won't have to pay msrp for an order it is similar to buying off the lot. Negotiate (minus rebates) prior to irderingn. Should easily get invoice pricing

The chances of finding a 6.2 on the lot in your color (forget thinking about the perfect set of options) are slim to none.

I dont have any real insider input on the subject but I was in the same position as the OP. I wanted a truck-build that couldnt be found. My ideal truck was a Sierra 2WD V6 SLE (sounds like an economy build so far) but I also wanted Bucket Seats, 20 wheels and the Z71 suspension pkg. My dealer and I searched inventories within a 500 mile radius. That truck just isnt out there.

To get it, or any other truck that isnt pre-built, you must put a deposit down on a vehicle without knowing the ultimate price. The sale offers change month-to-month. My dealer told me that the MSRP is locked-in when the order is placed (protects you from any price rises). But the only sales offers/discounts you get are the unknown ones in-force on the uncertain delivery date. Your bargaining leverage is reduced. You cant hammer down a bottom line you are willing to pay. It feels like writing a blank check. The dealer doesnt know what the price will be on the delivery date either. They have no incentive to offer you a great price. My sales person seemed more inclined to get me in to a pre-built truck. He showed me the MSRP of $39,995 for my 2WD V6 SLE, asked if I was sure I wanted to risk paying up to that amount instead of snapping up a pre-built SLE w/ Value Pkg for $28,xxx.

This was not an easy decision for me. In the end, I couldnt justify spending X amount on a compromise-build when my ideal-build might not cost much more. It is a gamble and I wont know if it was worth it until I take delivery. My SLE is slated to be built during the week of March 17th. If they can get it from Fort Wayne IN to Lansing MI by March 31st I will be happy. If it doesnt arrive until April I may be even happier, or not. Im not surprised that most folks buy pre-built.

Call around. I was getting ready to order a Sierra All Terrain in white with the 6.2L and a sunroof. Before I placed the order I called every dealer within a 4-5 hour drive. Called Beck & Masten North in Houston and the exact truck I was going to order was being delivered that day and I put a deposit on it right then. It never hurts to at least call around before special ordering.

You dint need to put a deposit down for an ordered truck. The dealers that dint know what theyre doing will make you do that. Find a good dealer that will show you the actual invoice at the time of delivery and tell him before you order the truck you want it at invoice and they can keep the holdback money. Order your truck youll be good to go! Thats what i did and im glad i waited

Thanks for the replies. I appreciate your responses. Hope a few more people will chime in with their ordering and whether they received discounts or not.
