Wild cabin heat temperature variation

Ditto on my truck in Canada, so it's not air conditioning I'm talking about at this time of year, lol. Auto seems fine, but manaul sure seems to be wild swings in temperature.

I have the same problem I can set mine on 72 and it be 50 outside and it blows cold air no heat. I can then either turn it off and turn it back on leaving it at 72 and it will start to blow warm air or turn it up one degree to 73 and then it will start blowing warm air. My 2012 model never had this problem with temperature control the only complaint on it is in auto mode the fan was either in wide open or off. With my 2014 I can hear the fan speed adjusting itself.

Take it in for warranty, that's what it is there for It's not like you are going to tear apart the dash on your brand new truck...

I told the dealer about my problem when I took it in for the fire recall. They told me they would check for codes when I went back to pick it up they said it had no codes in it and that GM had no info about it either. The problem is that it is sparatic when it happens and if you turn off the truck or change the temperature by one degree it starts working properly. I worked for chrysler years ago and I know the only way that they will address the problem is for them to see it happening and then be able to figure out a fix for it that does not involve replacing random or all parts of the heating and air conditioning parts. If GM is like Chrysler you either wait out the customers or you find a easy and inexpensive fix.

I have had my truck for about two weeks now and I noticed this too. It is between -20 and-35 degrees C here and the heater on manual is nice at about 23c. But it starts to get hot. If I change it by one degree to 22 c, it blows cold air. There is no middle ground. Wierd.....

Going to ask the dealer about it next week.

I just got my 2014 Silverado a week ago and I came here looking for answers to questions. I also have the same issue, it seems 72F is the transition point from really hot to warm. This would be in non-auto mode and non-defrost or de-fog mode. There hasn't been much response to this topic so I'm wondering if we have a bad component?

I read through this thread and didn't see anyone with my specific issue so I figured I would post it here. I have the temp set on sync at 68 not on auto and no blower or defrost on and when your sitting still the interior temp is comfortable but when you start moving its like the temp really kicks up and gets pretty intense. Stop at a stop light and it cools back down. Why would moving or acceleration have anything to do with intensity when the fan speed is turned down or off?

 

I came from a 98 with no ac and minimal heat so anything in the new truck is better than what I had but for $30K+ the little issues begin to bug you.

This might not solve some of the problems expressed, but I thought the heater sucked at first.

 

I started driving a demo 2014 Z71 in early December and it took a few weeks and some reading to figure out how it worked.

 

When you want heavy duty heat for defrost or whatever, use that setting only till you heat up. Once you want to control cabin air hit Auto.

It will automatically turn the AC on and control the temperature. This works great.

 

At first I thought it was a malfunction that it turned the AC on, but that is the way it is designed.

 

In the older trucks the Auto setting was just so so, but in the 2014's I have been in I have been able to set it and forget it. Occasionally I will bump it a degree one way or the other.

I think gone are the days where you can adjust the air temperature, this system seems to regulate the cabin temperature only. I can say it works well but I no longer can have constant "warm" air blowing at me feet unless I turn the temp to HI (but that can get hot).
