Does anyone else have a problem with Auto 4WD?? When i'm in auto 4WD there is a loud roaring noise coming from the front end/transfer case. I thought when in auto its supposed to drive like normal and kick on when needed when you lose traction??

Put it in 4WD high, is it the same sound? The engine does sound slightly different.

The auto engages the front wheel transfer case, just doesnt give the front wheels power until its needed. You still are making the engine work harder and lose mpg's though, just not as much as full time 4WD.

I personally love the feature!

Understand the angst, let the dealer's service department figure it out. May as well exercise that warranty. Good luck!

Every GM truck I've driven has been a little louder when the transfer case is engaged.

Looks like in your sig your truck is lifted w/ offset wheels. What is your rear end ratio? You're already asking the truck to work extra hard w/ that setup maybe that has something to do with it?

Is it at least engaging the front wheels when there's slippage?

I just noticed your truck is lifted. What does the front drive shaft angle look like going from the t-case down to the front diff? Back on my old 2002, when I installed a 6" lift kit on the truck, the first thing I noticed when I flipped into 4wd for the first time was it was louder than before. Maybe that is what's causing the issue?

I know the sound he's talking about. It sounds like you're driving on dry pavement with knobby tires.

My truck is lifted and I have the same sound when in Auto 4WD. I have tested mine and it does work. Tried climbing over a few obstacles this past weekend and as soon as the back tires loose traction the front kicks in. Pretty cool. It is very loud though when at driving speed. Curious to see what your dealer says. Keep us updated.

I'm on my third GM truck with Auto 4WD and they all have worked seamless. The weather here sucked when I picked up my 2014 a little over 2 weeks ago and I kept Auto 4WD on for a week. I didn't get very good mpg, but didn't care as long as I could keep it between the ditches! I keep my suspensions stock, no lifts or over sized tires.

I hate to play Devil's advocate here, but isn't the dealer just going to say "well you screwed w/ your truck and got it lifted and the wrong size tires so you're SOL"?

I know lifted trucks are FAR more prevalent in different regions, but as I've mentioned before for the most part up in the NE the dealer would just deny any warranty work because it is clearly going to put added stress on EVERYTHING - driveline, engine, suspension, speedo, etc.

Maybe going to an independant shop that deals w/ modded trucks would be more beneficial?

Not trying to call you out just saying you may be barking up the wrong tree w/ the dealer and opening a can of worms.

The Dealership installed everything on my truck and I have a signed document stating that they will still stand behind factory warranty.
