Clearcoated wheels

I am curious how are clear coated wheels holding up on 2014 trucks? GM installs polished clear coated alloy wheels on many of their vehicles and I had corrosion problems with my wheels on both my Silverado and Impala. Here on the Florida east coast I have seen corrosion on clear coated wheels on a new left over 2012 GM truck parked on the dealer's lot about a year ago.

So far so good. My wheels have been hit with a LOT of road salt this winter. They were cleaned up yesterday and they look perfect.

I also did a paint sealant on the paint and wheels when I first got the truck, seems to be holding up nicely.

One way to keep the corrosion away as long possible is to request that they use sticky wheel weights that go on the inside of the wheels rather than the ones you hammer on...

That helps some of course, but in case of my '09 Impala only stick on weights were used from the factory. The wheels started pitting shortly after I bought the car. They were replaced under warranty and the new wheels are doing much better. Almost a year later and no pitting so far. The key to corrosion free clear coated wheel is good quality clearcoat of sufficient thickness to resist gravel and sand abrasion. Maybe GM finally got the message to start producing better quality wheels.

Just go to Adamspolishes.com, look under wax and sealants for the quick sealant spray. Clean the wheel and follow directions.....just spray.
