Hey all, I am having problems with my brand new silverado starting. The this in 4 days old just rolled it off the lot and this is what is happening to me. The past 2 mornings and last night when I was getting ready to leave for work. I went out to start the truck and all I get is a single click when I turn the key in the ignition. Try it again a few more times and the same thing has happened. I quit for 5-10 minutes after trying and go back out and try it again. It fires up first try with no problem. This morning I attempted to see if it was a battery problem and tried to jump it with no success. Wasn't sure if it was a loose contact so I wiggled the steering wheel and shifter and still no results. Brought it into my local chevy dealership this morning after having the same issue and finally was able to get it started. They hooked it up to their computers and checked it all and said their was no errors reading. They told me they were going to contact GM via their help portal and still have yet to hear anything. I was wondering if anyone else is having the same issue. I also posted a video this morning to Youtube showing what happens when I first try.

this is obviously only a short term solution but have you tried starting it remotely and then putting the key in?

We just bought a 2014 silverado last Wednesday. It wouldn't start on Saturday. We jumped it brought it in and they said there was nothing wrong with it. We brought it home again went to start it in the morning and its dead again. We towed it to the dealership where they can not find anything wrong with it. The truck has 180 miles on it. Which have basicly been used up driving to the dealership and bringing it home from the dealership. The dealership is 50 miles from our home.

I read on here somewhere that some trucks had a problem with the starter solenoid not making contact because of too much grease or something around the contacts in it. The solenoid pulls in but the engine doesn't crank over.

I believe one of the BCM updates addresses this very issue. Separately, I discovered one of the terminals on my battery was not totally tight on mine, which caused weird electrical problems that went away once the terminal was tightened.

The batteries that come on the 14s are pretty pathetic if you ask me. I live in Canada and we have had quite a few -30 and lower days now and I have had to use my booster box a lot now. I went into the dealer yesterday about this and they said they know the factory batteries suck as a few people have complained to them. I've also noticed the truck turns over for ever before it will catch when it's cold out which drives me nuts. Hopefully GM will give us an update for the cold start start problems.

Exact same problem here. Had the truck 5 days now. Either with remote, onstar, or key it seems to have a mind of its own. Same thing when I took it to the dealer yesterday.

Update on my situation. Leaving the truck at the dealership overnight so they can run a test on it in the AM. Will update when I get called tomorrow.

I plan to make use of that extra battery tray.... I wonder if that would solve your problems?

What is the cranking capacity of the OEM battery? This whole thing stinks. I have never, ever had any starting issue with my truck and it is 8 years old.

I'm anxious to hear what the dealer experiences and what they have to say.

giloma - when yours wouldn't start, did it even crank? If not, the jump start might not have really been needed. As with my issues, you try to start it and it just clicks (no starter activity), wait a bit and try again and it fires right up. The batt is strong. It may have been a result of the timing rather than the jump starter. OR... you had a low battery :dunno:

    • Breaking News!    I'm going to tell you that I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I told  you.  Then I'm going to tell you what I'm about to tell you on the other side of the break.  Then we're going to break. Then I'm not going to tell you what I told you I was going to tell you.  But I'll tell you something else that is Breaking News just coming to the desk that everyone reported on yesterday.  Then I'll tease a human interest telling I'll get to on the other side of a larger break. Then I'll tell you one item in 20 seconds and go back to an even longer break. Longest break of the night.  Then I'll tell you a fluff piece that takes 10 seconds and sign off into a three minute break while you wait for the next 30 minutes of rinse and repeat on the local news.    In al you'll get about 12 minutes of something, 5 minutes of which is worth hearing in a 30 minute show and 18 minutes of advertising at a sound level twice as loud as the news.    Of course you can switch to cable news and hear 12 different people tell the same four stories in much the same format as the Network News for 20 hours of which the majority will be advertising.  And four hours of late night Specials about things you wonder why you stayed up to listen to. Half of which will be repeats.....   OR you can go for a drive
    • Did you ever figure this out? My 2022 Trail Boss, and now my 2026 LT did this from time to time.  I believe it was more connected to Android Auto and my phone being the cause. Maybe try going for a drive, sans cell phone.... and see if it happens?
    • I have a 2026 Silverado LT, the non bose as well.  Upgrading the door speakers is pretty straightforward. You could honestly go to walmart, or Auto Zone/ O Reilly and get a set of 6x9s for the front, and 6.5s for the rear. You do also have to get some adapters for each, but they are like $10 a pair on Amazon. Then some plug and play harnesses that are about $10 a pair on Amazon as well.  And I would also suggest a 10 pack of the Amazon Basics sound deadening. Slap that all around the speakers and on the open metal of the inside of the door. And your golden.   I am currently doing this with my Silverado. Although I am having a bit of trouble because I am snooby I guess and bought some Alpine S2 S69c's which are 2 way components and I am having to wire from the door up to the dash....  Having never installed speakers before, its taking me just a bit to get everything correct. But if you dont buy expensive component speakers, and just some $40-$50 door speakers. You will DRASTICALLY improve the sound over these stock paper cone junk speakers. I thought my Silverado had an issue with the radio/ sound for a while.  Come to find out.  The stock speakers are just THAT SH*TTY   I cannot wait to have some decent sound in the truck   What did you end up doing?
    • Its all automatic based on yaw sensor data.  If enough incline is detected, it engages.   My recommendation though would be to disengage it before driving off and not let it auto disengage by touching the gas pedal.  The HD trucks use the same setup as prior years, the drum in hat park brake.  But now with an electric actuator.  If you drive off repeatedly over time, it can torque the park brake shoes and can also prematurely wear them out.           Electric console shift will set the park brake on flat ground too.  Pretty sure they've got it programmed to activate every time.
