2011 Silverado Undercoating Peeling Off

The only thing that kind of dorks me off about this TSB is that there is no way we will be able to hit all the spots on the frame with this repair. I really wish they had done it right at the factory.

I just bought a new 2013 chevy silverado in Dec 30 2013

I brought it home and parked it. It has 300 miles.

I just noticed the frame is rusting everywhere and the coating peels right off

with rust behind it.

I can not describe how upset I am.

I did not buy a new truck so the chevy garage can take the whole thing apart

to clean the rust off and re-coat frame and then 6 months from now do it again.

My efforts and time will be used to pursue a full refund.

This is a brand new truck that I have not even had a chance to drive yet.

Sorry to bump an old thread, my 2012 sierra is having the same problem, it has 13000 miles and has always been garage kept. I called my dealer twice and provided them with the pi# on this issue and they said they would get back to me on what to do. Its been well over a month and they still havent got back to me. What should i do? Im kinda bummed out.

So, I'm not super anal, but I noticed my undercoating peeling off. In the pic below I was able to just pull it off. The truck has 17, XXX miles on it so this concerns me. Should this be happening and what can be done? Is this a warranty issue? Thanks in advance

I've already "chatted" with someone in your CS department. I have been in contact with a local dealer who seems willing to help, but we just had a kid, bought a house and moved so I will need to deal with this a little later. Shouldn't have to though.

Both my 2008 and 2010 looked like that within 15,000 miles and they are both garage kept and well taken care of. Every once in a while I just spray it with a fresh coat of 3M undercoating. Pretty much the only way to have it keep looking like it should.

My 2011 Suburban Z71 chasis looks like a 20 year old rust bucket underneath.......I'm literally horrified. I live in SoCal beach area, truck has never seen snow and is garaged. Here's the kicker, I went to trade it in to buy a new GMC Sierra when they appraised my burb the sales guy says" your frame is really rusted, do you drive it in saltwater".....WTF, seriously??.....Didn't buy the Sierra

, because during the test drive my girlfriend was sitting in the backseat and hot air was blowing on her from my cooling driver seat. I said turn the AC vents towards you.......Oooops, there are none, thats a whole other topic, needless to say won't be buying a $50K that forgot to put AC for rear passengers, brilliant GM.

Unfricking believable, haven't contacted my dealer yet, but will today. After reading all these posts it seems like they aren't going to do s**t. Last GM I will ever purchase if they dog me and I'll make sure the word is out there.........I feel better now, woooo

YAWN..........Day 5 of 2015,,,,,,,,,no call, no email , no response at all from Chevy..........guess they've been too busy clearing out the rusty 2014's.........think it's time for attorney friend to send a letter, class action, NTSB, etc.........

I guess if I get aggressive and not just be a simple quite average white guy on the sidelines, maybe then some action will occur,,,Sucks as an American you have to yell and scream to get service.Does anyone from GM monitor this?

I think I might park it in front of dealership offering tours of my chassis to prospective buyers this weekend.

RDbaja, I was looking for your post to find out what happened? But you answered that. Yea, get a lawyer, that's the only thing that will get their attention. Keep us posted!

Just fired off my 3rd email this year to the dealer asking status on the corrosion guy visit, he is only here for a couple of hours....................still no response. I did mention the A word ..."attorney" so we will see if they care.....It's not like none of us have jobs or families but I guess I'm suppose to do everything in my power to accommodate the inspectors visit, mind you dealer is 17 miles from my house......Just looked at all the trucks in my neighborhood and they all have no rust or very minor. a 2011 Tundra down the street at an oceanfront home looks new. My grandfather would be doing back flips if I even considered a Japanese truck but wow, they sure seem to hold up a lot better than my American made rust bucket........the saga continues

Update #6

Have an appt this morning at dealer, because now there is a corrosion guy that makes decisions. Was already told by the General Manager that this guy has said GM is doing nothing because I live a block from the ocean, feel sorry for dealer with that kind of support.........I have the TSB ( service bulletin to repair ) PI1056E.......So it sounds like if you live within a few miles of the coast GM is saying.." good luck f**cker, thanks for your 55K"

Not sure anyone is reading these anymore, but I'll post the outcome for future "rusters" in need
