Heat/cool seats in all terrain

Looking at an all terrain SLT and the sales manager told me that the cool seats do not come in the all terrain trucks, just curious if that's true or not

Absolutely true. AT seats are specific and do not have cooling or lane departure morning. They are heated however.

How is the grade of leather in the new 2014? I know from past trucks the leather always seems to crack and fade, in no time.

That's the main reason I didn't get an AT. I really wanted the cooled seats.

 

The leather in my Denali is nice. I don't know how it'll hold up though. The leather in my 2003 Yukon held up relatively well. It didn't "crack and fade in no time."

Why would the lane depature not come with the AT?

 

Also does cooling make that much of a difference and can you get after market for it, much like heating pads for the seats?

My understanding is the new AT trucks ... you can now get cooled seats and the 6.2. Something you could not get with the earlier builds...

 

Lane departure - has something to do with the truck being "off road" version.. don't know for sure.. could care less... that is the only option that I definitely don't want.

You can get the 6.2, not the seats. The AT seats are specific to the AT, they are NOT available on any other model/package/etc. Why? Well, GM simply decided to limit the options on these seats. Only two sets are available, one for SLE, and one for SLT trim. I was informed by a GM "order department specialist" yesterday that these options are not, and would not be available for '14. I completed an order sheet today w/ my local dealer, and she confirmed that these options were not available to her.

Cooled seats are "cool" but they sure do make a racket, also of note is they send warm air to the rear from the fan/motor. My friend has a Denali w/ these seats.

 

The leather in the Denali seems plusher while the seats in the AT seem more rugged/durable- especially the faux leather/carbon stitch material

GM offers lane departure warning system even on small cars like Sonic now. Why would this particular truck model be excluded?

I didn't get an AT for this exact reason... Cooled seats and lane departure rock!

I don't pretend to understand why GM made the decision, and I CERTAINLY do not agree with it. I want an AT, but I also want cooled/lane departure seats. It's not to be

 

But it stands that the AT has unique seats. This isn't a limited edition vehicle or anything like that, but it does stand to reason that there will be FAR fewer AT's sold than your typical SLE/SLT. Especially when you consider that fact that most all of the AT options are already included in other options and painted bumpers are cheaper than chrome and yet it's STILL $1,000's more. Yeah....I pay attention to the details GM. Anyway. From GM's perspective you have a unique package here that will benefit, ie sell more, from things like custom, unique seats. This means good profit, but low volume. Low volume doesn't bode well for offsetting development costs with multiple options. Take the AT/SLT for instance. You have the special leather, cool, lane departure as potential options. Maybe more if you throw in bench seats, 10 vs 6 way, etc. But with just those 3 you have 6 possible combinations. For a low volume truck. It's possible that only 50 pickups would have the AT seats with cool but no lane departure, as an example. It would take 10's if not 100's of thousands of dollars to develop this one seat option. How could GM possibly make that development cost up in 50 trucks?

 

Again, playing devil's advocate here. I'd pay for the options myself.

exactly why I didn't get the AT. I just HAD to have the cooled seats. I wanted the painted to match everything but the cooled seats would be harder to do aftermarket than painting or replacing all the cheasy chrome.

The cooled seats require perforated leather in the center section, which I actually like the look of on the SLT, but it might be less attractive if combined with the carbon fiber look "leather" on the edges of the All Terrain seats. The appearance of the AT interior is the main reason I bought one, and mostly because I preferred the look of fake carbon fiber over the fake wood trim of the SLT. And also the gauge cluster and red stitching on the dash, doors, and seats of AT looked better IMO. I've seen a few AT's with chrome bumpers instead of painted, and given how easily the painted bumpers chip that may have been a plus. I definitely get more compliments on the AT wheels than anything else though. If I lived in a hot climate the cooled seats may have been a priority, but as it is I have no regrets.

i choose no lane departure warning because mine was going off constantly....too much looking around i guess. I think i have finally become my father. on a second thought....maybe i should have gotten lane departure
