Oil Pressure?

What is everyones oil pressure when at idle and when driving? It seems lower then normal

right in the middle of the gauge. ~40psi. when you get on it, the pressure will go up, when you idle, it might dip below a bit.

Thinner oil makes for lower pressure. As said I see around 30ish while at idle and as soon as I am on the throttle it hits 40+. Once I am in final gear at cruise speed I see it settle in slightly under the 40 mark. Plenty of pressure when the engine is only turning 1500rpm's.

Took mine in @ 6600 miles for the 1st oil change before my trip to winter quarters. Drove around for a week before leaving. Oil pressure gauge was @ mid-range. Filled washer fluid and checked oil day before I left. I couldn't see oil on the dipstick. Dug out service sheet, it stated tech added 6 quarts. "WTF" I had to delay the start of my trip while I waited in line at the dealership. Service writer acted like it was no big deal. Received new service sheet, it stated: topped-off oil. I made service writer give me new sheet stating that original tech didn't add enough oil. Funny thing was that I never received a customer satisfaction survey that they always ask you to give then 10's on everything. I wonder why?

Most lube techs at dealerships are there because their hopes and dreams of being assist night shift fry cook at your local McDonalds fell through when Management administered a background check revealing that they had suffered a career ending pancake flipping wrist injury at the waffle house just down the road.

It's a tragic end to what could have been a glorious life full of fast cars and hot women.

The place I go to..you stay sitting in your truck the whole time. When done they walk to your door and show you the dipstick and oil level. I really like this. Sometimes I think I'm the only guy at a gas station who ever checks his oil theses day, but I do it often. I even had an old timer say to me...boy you dont see poeple doing that anymore LOL. At least I know the right amount of oil went in the crank case to start with. My 2010 ate about 2 quarts between oil changes sol I always was adding some. Havent changed the oil on the new 2014 yet, only 1600 miles but I've checked the level 2 or 3 times already and doesn't seem to have moved. I'm still undecided on if I'll take advantage of the free oil chainges or just goto my old place. I want to switch over to synthetic anyway so.

Damn that nuts. One thing about my dealership is the waiting area, isnt remotely close to the service area, so I cant sneak in and watch them work on my truck.

 

i'm going to use my free dealership oil changes, but I'll be checking the oil myself before I even leave the lot.

My truck is at 30 when idling and 40 under way just seemed low to me compared to what I'm use to seeing on my old truck. I know its different engines, just wanted to make sure everything is ok.

In 06 I got a Trailblazer SS, they came with mobil 1. Light came on the first time at 12000 miles. Took it to the dealer the service writer stated to inform me that I was going to lose my warranty, he had to make note of this on the ticket. After I showed him the owners manual and told him he needs too get more informed or just shut up and write. Next oil change same truck got the oil changed went to my shop check the oil it was 2 quarts over full. Called service dept. ask why did they put bulk oil in my truck and charge me for mobli 1? How do you know he says? Well, do you keep mobil 1 in bulk or do you put in by the quart? Ok he says bring it back we will do it again. You just have to keep an eye on them. Then they will put that sticker in the window next oil change in 3000 miles, that just ticks me off. Nobody does that anymore, rite?

I have had not so good luck with my dealer.. Even though they are really nice, and I know alot of them there now, it seems the service dept. has a lot to be desired. The first time I went there for my first oil change at 1000 miles they spilled oil all over my engine compartment and the valve cover.. then left oil hand prints all over the hood, fender, and the door.. I was PISSED. As I drove away I could smell burning oil.. Then I had my windows tinted, and I went in the next day to get my ebrake adjusted (This was on my brand new 13 Equinox LTZ). I specifically told them not to roll my windows down that they were just tinted. The guy makes a big sign saying don't roll windows down fresh tint, and puts it up with tape on the driver's side window.. When I get my truck back and go to get in it the windows are down!! As I roll them up, the sign comes up with the window.. the tech was obviously not paying attention and rolled the sign down with the window.. I was, again, pissed..

 

This time I went in to change my oil on the Silverado again (This time at 4000 miles) and I told them I was really worried about giving them my truck again, as I have been having all these issues everytime I come in.. The service writer was really cool, and told me not to worry he would make sure they were very clean and careful. He prints my paper out, takes my truck and tells me the new 15 Tahoe's are in, and hands me the key to go check one of them out (They were in Service, not even on the lot yet, seats still in plastic). As I am walking over to the Tahoe I look down and it shows 5w30 oil! I know the truck takes 0w20, and I'm again upset.. I go back in and nicely tell him he is wrong, and this needs to be corrected, that I absolutely don't want 5w30 oil in my truck.. Luckily I caught it and they again put a big sign on the truck to use 0w20, and I then checked the part numbers on the finished work order to verify, but it just goes to show, you REALLY need to watch everything if you don't want your stuff to get messed up. You would think these guys know better as they work with this stuff daily, but that's just not true.

First time took my truck in for oil change they put on a QUAKER STATE filter! Didn't find out until next day when I checked to make there were no leaks. Luckily my buddy is the parts manager and he offered to bring it in and change it. I just asked him to get me an AC Delco filter and a quart of Dexos oil and I changed it myself. He even got the stuff on a Sunday. I let them know how PISSED I was on the survey.

Are these trucks equipped with "real" pressure transducers? Most manufacturers now use an algorithm to feed information to the oil pressure gauge depending on oil temperature and engine rpm.

Any body know?
