FYI:

Just got off the phone with Borla.

Asked a lot of questions and this is the info I got from them.......

The Borla 6.2L GM catback systems are as follows:

"ATAK" muffler series (the loudest ones):

Part #140572 & #140577

They have an MSRP of $1,174.00, but can be found cheaper online.

"S-Type" muffler series (medium loudness):

Part #140571 & #140576

"Touring" muffler series (least aggressive):

Part# 140570

Unfortunately these are only available for the Crew Cab "Short Box" and not the Crew Cab "Standard box" like I have. I asked him whether they would be coming out with a CC Standard Box variant, but he said at this time it wasn't in the plans. This is probably due to the fact most people order the Short Box configuration with their Sierra Denali.

The system only comes in a straight back (out the bumper) or double tip behind the rear passenger tire configuration. There is no option for 45* or 90* dual rear exit. Unfortunate.

They also offer another system that has to be ordered through GM directly (or your local dealership).

It is GM part# 19303341 (for CC Standard Box) and has an MSRP of $1,249

It is only offered in their "touring" muffler, the mildest one they have.

All this news was quite upsetting. I really wanted a rear 45* exit with the "ATAK" muffler.

It looks like I'll be going the custom route and ordering the muffler I want and a stainless pipe kit to be custom bent by a muffler shop that uses a mandrel bending system.

Hope this info helps those looking.

You may be able to still use the Borla exhaust by cutting the exhaust pipe a little back from where the normal cut is made. If you know someone with a short bed truck near you to compare side by side. I would look into it.

Thanks.

That's what the guy from Borla said too, the exhaust could be modified. I'd hate to cut into a $1200+ exhaust system though.

It seems it'd be cheaper to buy the muffler I want, then get a system custom bent.

I really want 45* rear exit out the back bumpers.

You don't make the cut on the Borla system. The cut that is made is on the factory pipe leaving the 3rd Cat before the stock muffler.

Oh ok.

I just wish they made an ATAK kit for the standard box.

I don't know what they do for the HD models, as they only come in standard box or long box.

Just got my MBRP single exit installed and it fits great. I'm back out here in Colorado and the truck feels like it got most of its power back that it lost from being at 4600ft ASL. As for the install, it was a breeze doing it on the ground. I only used a ratchet, 13mm, 15mm sockets and a pry bar for the hangers. I did have to make a cut to get it out but it's in a place where it could be reconnected with a exhaust banclamp if needed to be. MBRP were even insightful enough to include a pipe extension for the 6.2L crew 6'6" bed owners. As of right now, they only make the single out for the 6.2L.

It sounds awesome with a nice V8 crack on cold start then settles to a very sweet rumble. When you are crusin and you let off the throttle you wouldn't even know you have exhuast on the truck. I almost ordered a Gibson system but I don't think it would sound as aggressive as this MBRP does. I've put MBRP on 2 other trucks I've owned and just put a duel system on my pop's gmt900 so I knew what I was going to get in terms of sound.

Now In V4 mode it has a slight exhuast note change but no where near the fuss that some make about IMO. Doesn't bother me in the slightest. And when you romp on it, people know you're coming fo sho, so that out weighs a little V4 burbble.

I'll try to get some pics of it alittle later or sometime this week at least and maybe a sound clip too. I'm super busy wih opening up my store but I should be able to at least snap a couple pics today.

Thanks for the info Ray.

I'd love to hear that sound clip if you get the chance.

I've never heard of MBRP before, just looked them up.

So this extension piece they included is just a sleeve? I wonder if I could use that for the Borla exhaust?

I see you have the standard bed as well, I wish more exhaust manufacturers would take into account the CC Standard Box owners. I know it's more of a niche market, but it'd be nice to have some kit options.

I wish I could hear some 6.2L exhausts in person. It's hard to make a decision on what to get. I'm leaning towards the Borla ATAK muffler and a custom bent system so I can get my 45* rear tailpipe exit configuration.

One other thing, while it's on my mind.......

For those with a Borla exhaust system, is it worth the money?

I mean $1,200+ for an exhaust is far more than I've ever paid.

Can anyone with a Borla exhaust state they're worth the premium. I know you're getting a non Flowmaster drone, but with the cost difference between Flowmaster and Borla, is it worth it?

just noticed corsa has come out with 6.2 catback system with a video, sport sound level doesnt sound that aggressive
