What is the best ATF filter for a 4L60E, M30 transmission?

I'm wondering why you change your fluid so much

I'm not changing it alot sweetie, just only 2 times in each oil change for this year and then I will change it again at the next 20k miles.

LOL I've been through that experience before but it wasn't because of ATF n filter change.

Send a sample to Blackstone Labs for an analysis and use the data to determine if your change intervals are worth the expense.

On a 4L60E frequent changes don' t make up for the weak parts in it. We do about 50k intervals and average 175-200k per unit, iirc. As long as the sunshell doesn't bust. No fluid can fix that

OP. Put a plug in the pan. No need for filter changes everytime since your on such a frequent change schedule, as I said they are a simple screen. If it gets clogged you're farked anyway. Maybe every other time

Because the original design has a few weak spots and they tend to go boom. It's one of the known issues. Frequent fluid changes generally don't prevent failures in the 4L60E. As I said get a drain plug installed in your pan or buy a pan with one. It'll make your changes easier

Lets just hope this 4L60e last at least 250k. The Aisin A131 tranny on my 91 corolla gave out at 160k well because of previous owner neglect and also partly my fault as well since I "mistakenly" drained the diff. fluid which was actually ATF coming from the transaxle diff. I toped of the ATF, ASSUMING that will go in the diff bit didn't and then a year later it went out. Fortunately, I had it rebuilt for $800

What I'm saying is if it's not burning or leaking you don't need to change it often. Trans and differentials are two things that can go quite a long way before you need to change them. Darling....

I'm just superstitious about meeting my maintenance schedule, thats all :) mostly due to my experience working in auto shops when I was a young man selling maintenance services and reading their pamphlets about the neglect of preventive maintenance. Since then I've been so concern about changing my fluids on time..But, this old truck has never left me stranded at all. Only problems I ever experience with this truck is just very minor stuff like the blower resistor and the 6 CD factory changer radio that doesn't produce much volume being that this truck was originally equipped with the AM/FM radio with no CD or tape feature.

Did GM did anything to resolve that sun shell weakness? Btw this was the condition of my 4L60e while doing the tranny service. Sorry i only took one pic since my phone died after that shot.

Only from what I've read on the internet, yes GM beefed up the sunshell on the 4L60e somewhere around '05/'06 model year. I'm not sure how true that is since I can't find any GM references so could be a bunch of whoey...

Well if indeed it was done back in 05 or 06, I have my fingers crossed.
