I did my frame yesterday with rust encapsulator paint. Supposed to be one of the best spray on solutions to prevent rust. I'll probably follow up with some fluid film.

I would rent a car before I drove my truck anywhere neat salt on the road... I couldn't imagine how some of you guys feel about your new rides...

They don't usually salt the roads in Manitoba where I live, but the weather does take its toll. For the provinces that do salt like Ontario I'm pretty sure it has just become the norm for everyone to have corroded undercarriages. Most people are used to it.

I literally just asked them about this 2 weeks ago and they said it was "normal" I'll be taking it in to talk to them again.

Theres a TSB out on this. I printed it out and took it to Crivelli Chevy in McKees Rocks. They said it was normal also. They were going to take care of it but I just unloaded the vehicle.

did you strip all the factory wax first? or apply this over the top?

ugh... well it looks really good now. Mines not to bad but im trying to get it as close to indestructible as possible. Don't know if i should strip the wax, or scuff it and paint over it.

that's a tough one man, not sure what you should do. You could undercoat it. Or else try to scrape all that stuff off. Not sure how much work that entails.

stupid question... well maybe kind of stupid... but, if I have a steel drive shaft (this is another truck of mine), would applying the encapuslator or paint, possibly throw it out of balance?

Not sure. It is a fairly thick paint as it has epoxy in it. As long as its sprayed evenly I can't see it affecting it too much.
