If you get a chance, could you compare MPG pre and post lift/wheel/tire?

How's the ride and performance of the truck with the larger wheel/tire package?

Thanks yall! I'm still really excited with how it came out. Better than I've been imagining it for the last year haha. I've been getting a lot of compliments from friends and random ppl who see the truck on the street or at lights and between the compliments and how much I love the new look, it certainly made it worth the money [emoji106]

Surprisingly the ride didn't suffer much, even with the bigger, heavier, knobbier tires. I might be able to give a full all around review of how they do everywhere after this weekend [emoji57]

But in the road they are great. Not loud and the truck handles well. Still stops quickly and can leave others at the starting line haha.

MPGs it's hard to tell for sure this early, but I did already recalibrate everything for the larger diameter tires and the DIC says 18MPG cruising at 75 so I'm happy with that. In the city so far I've seen 11-12. Maybe 13. But I've also seen a lot of traffic. A lot more than usual. And I'm still having fun letting it run while I show it off to friends and revving the engine every so often [emoji23]

Oh one other thing about ride quality, while it's certainly not a Cadillac. It also doesn't feel much like a lifted truck normally does where you'll feel a pebble in the road. I barely feel anything up front unless I'm going down the curb and the tires leave the groin for a second and slam down to the ground, but the back is much stiffer than before. You'll feel some stuff from back there but it's not bad. I'd certainly recommend these tires and the lift

Looks awesome man!

Looks amazing! Is that a dent under the fuel door, next to the wheel well?

Yes it is :/ some jacka$$ in a parking lot. I got x-a-dent to work on it but they couldn't get it all the way out so i didn't have to pay anything. They got the majority of it out. Tomorrow I'm HOPING I can get the time to drop the spare tire and see what's up with my tailgate bar not working right. Seems like my whole driver side trailer wiring isn't working right so I gotta fix that and while I'm doing that Imma try to get the rest of the dent out

Really does look great Mike... Nice job!

Hey Mike, been following your build for some while. Truck looks awesome by the way. I wanted to do a big lift but up in Canada it costs an arm and a leg by the time your done.

I'm wondering if you have any advice on where to enter the cab with a switched wire for LED back rack lights. And also if i should just get power directly from the battery?

I also did your extra centre console light idea, way better now.

Thanks, C.F.

Hey man, I've seen some of the prices for suspension parts and installs up in Canada and it'll cost you big time, but I'll say, it's certainly worth it. I've started to notice a lot of people taking 2 and 3 looks at stop lights or on the street.

As far as places to run wires in, you've got a few options,

1) under the driver side footwell carpet there's a rubber grommet that you can use a knife to just make an incision in it and you can slip your wire(s) through there

2) there's a plastic cap under passenger side carpet that you can drill a small hole in and run your wire(s) (I've used this entry spot the most)

3) you can use the driver or passenger side rubber "boot" that contains the wires for the mirrors.

These are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head and I've used all 3.

Perfect! I'll give her a go tomorrow, and thanks for getting back to me so quickly I appreciate it. Keep up the good work on the truck.

Can't seem to find any other traffic on these updated dust caps. Is there a thread on where to possibly purchase?

To my knowledge there is not a thread for them. You'll just need to PM Jon A about the caps [emoji106]

I already posted one in the "what have you done" thread, but here's some more pics from the other day when she got all dirty [emoji57]

Got stuck up to the frame at one point [emoji28] ended up putting some scratches on rear driver rim and when I was getting pulled my buddy ended up flinging a rock at my back window when his tires spun so I think we know how that ended [emoji35]

I definitely like the vinyl between the windows, looks way cleaner, I had wondered what it would look like when I test drove one. Once I pick up my new truck on tuesday I will definitely be doing that asap.

Edit: realized from reading farther back in the thread that it isn't vinyl.. but you know what I mean lol

    • Even tougher is the 5.0 / 302. That's what this one has.    https://postimg.cc/Z9XRrCSg   https://postimg.cc/4n3F3yzY   Just realized I had the airbox removed in the engine pic, lol.
    • Yep! This should be a pin somewhere as @pgamboa really dives into all of this. Thanks for reposting the link!
    • I did the new thermostat after doing a 'flip' for a year. Runs as cool one way as the other in the summer but in the winter there is a bit of a floor. Yellow with the new 70 C thermostat. My data over the life of the unit to date. Still need more cooler. Anyway that floor helped both winter fuel economy and shift quality in the winter. I found it a good balance.
    • Evan Williams Bottled in Bond   So pouring the last of a bottle of Evan Williams Black label last night I set off the the state store for a refill only to be denied the by an empty shelf. Rats.    What the did have was a bottle of Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. 100 proof. Hum, a few bucks more but a known distiller. Lets have a swing at it. ( I have before )    Cracked it open and pour a serving over ice. Hum.... more heat, yes. More alcohol naturally. But the barreling not the proof brings the taste and this one came up short.    Oh is was familiar but the heat ran the barrel over like a Peterbilt runs over a squirrel. Could use a heavier toasting of the oak me thinks or perhaps a longer barreling. Who knows. But what I can say is ice or a water back isn't the answer. What kills one kills them both. Sad. It is a pleasant drink....if you have little to compare it to.
    • I've had exactly one set of Bridgestone. Lasted five year and 125,000 miles and had I known better 15oK would have been a cake walk. I would have bought a like set had they not tripled in price since the first set. I removed them at said mileage with 5/32" remaining in dead even wear all four. They were fuel efficient, quite, comfortable and predictable.    Early on I got a very good alignment checked at least once a year, sometimes twice; kept the tires properly inflated, balanced and rotated. And I've found that many a tire issue can be avoided with great maintenance practices. Lot's of tire dealers will do rotation and balance (simple) for free for as long as you own the tire they sold you so no excuse not to.    Bead prep, alloy integrity and stem health have a huge impact on inflation stability. There are more mountings done poorly that perfectly. Finding a good tire guy is gold and as important as finding a tire you like.    That 3X price increase now two sets of "other tires' later is starting look like a bargain.      Bad maintenance kills more tires than bad tires.
