Goodyear SR-A tires

I really liked the BFG All Terrains I had on my '02 Silverado. If I can, I'll probably put a set on my '14 when the time comes.

I want to do that too but they only come in load range E for 18" rims and I'm not sure I want a tire like that when I'm mostly just commuting. That's why I'm leaning towards michelins.

Yeah I'm not sure that's a good way to do it.

No one said you have to do it that way dude.. Just an idea. I sold mine like 3 weeks later because I listed them high to get as much as I could back.

We recently put on a set of hankook atm's on my sons Tacoma. Not only are these a nice ( aggressive looking ) tire, they are quiet and ride real nice. Not sure about winter or off road yet but the siping and tread pattern at least look like an AT Tire should, as compared to the GY'S which look like they belong on a Ford Escape.

I have close to 6000 miles on mine so far, and I have no complaints about the ride or traction. I drive on rocky roads frequently though, and wore about the 4 ply tires they put on my Z71 pickup. Switching to 8 or 10 ply as soon as I bust one. Had 10 ply on my 07, and noticed very little difference in ride.

I found the SR-A to be a nice tire, soft ride with generally good control but pulled mine off as I wanted a more aggressive tire and replaced with the Toyo A/Tii Open Country eXtreme 295/55/R20's for summer (have Hankook I-Pike studded tires for winter ice & snow)

 

Shed the GY SR-1 275/55/r20s with 3k miles on them via C's list for $550.

I've got 6000 miles on the SRA's with no complaints. They were good in the winter. Lots of snow in upstate NY last year.Ride nice. No problems with heavy rain. Wearing OK so far. I don't know why so many people whine about them. Maybe limited experience in the snow?

I have 14,001 miles on my Wrangler WOL SRA's currently. I have no complaints about their ride, Great gas mileage, hold air well, even on aluminum rims, no vibrations, no uneven wear, no problem gripping in wet conditions, or even icy winter driving in 4HI. I did not actually get stuck with them last winter, and it was one of the snowiest, coldest, longest, hardest winters we have had in 30-40 years. However, I do think they are lacking for an all-terrain tire in the serious traction conditions.

 

I have plenty of experience with driving in snow, and there are better tires out there for snow traction. Other than that, as long as we don't have a winter worse than last, I think they will due until it is time to replace them. I will not bee seeking them out when it comes time, however.

 

Mine are 265/60/18's though, so I'm sure the 20's could be quite different, in several ways.

 

Just got back from a 3,800 mile trip out west, and they were great. Going in for rotation next Tuesday.

 

Oh, I forgot, I live 2.5 miles from the nearest pavement, so we are not the first ones plowed out. Yes, last!

I'm not thrilled about these tires either. I was a bit irked when my truck came in (located it out of state). I especially made sure to locate one with "All Terain Tires" which were an extra cost, and come to find out that they equip them with SR-A's. SR-A's are an "All Season Tire", not "All Terain". I think it's false advertising personally. They are fine for street driving but I bought a Z-71 to take off-road. These do not work when you get into mud, they just spin.

I put 3 sets of Firestone's Destination A/T's on my 05 Z-71 over the years. I love those tires ! Ride great, look great, quiet, and great traction on and off road. I'm hoping they run the "Buy 3 -Get 1 Free" sale on them pretty quick. Hunting season is coming and I will be swapping the SR-A's before then, sale or not.

I just replaced my Goodyear SR-A's (275-55-20) with Bridgestone Dueler Revo 2. A little stiffer over the bumps at first but it has leveled out. No vibration at all and I had these tires in past truck s and was always impressed by them. Especially in the snow and ice. For my Alaskan roads I think these are one of the best tires..

I just replaced my sra tires with BFG all terrains in 275/65/18. Best thing I have done to my truck so far. No more spinning on the hilly dirt roads.

No complaints, well yeah don't know why I had to pay an extra $200 for them just because I wanted the off road suspension.
