18" wheels or 20" wheels

I'm trying to decide what size wheels I should get with my new 1500. Any help would be appreciated.

20's. These trucks just look weird with the smaller wheels IMO. The GMT-900's did too.

I don't even understand 18" wheels. It's a truck, 17" is more than enough. I'd rather have more rubber than aluminum. I really see no benefit to riding on 20s. Especially when it comes to the price of rubber and ride quality.

Actually I thought they looked weird with thinner rubber of the 20's. To each their own.

I have driven with both, some say the 18's ride better. I noticed no difference.

I think this years offering of 20's are ugly.

There is no right or wrong decision on this one IMO.

Even after market 20's would be a way to go.

My wife's we lifted the truck and put 20" Fuel Hostages, started with 18's.

Mine has the stock 20's that come with the High Country and they are but ugly IMO.

That they do. At least with a tire that has a large enough sidewall.

I'll reword that: I see no practical benefit to riding on 20s.

I know when it comes to parking on the street and off roading I would never consider a 20" wheel.

Personally, I think these trucks don't look right with 18s due to the size and shape of the wheelwell and fender. I wanted 20s on my truck but got such a good deal on it with the 18s that I decided to deal with it later. Really wishing I would have waited and got the 20s. The 18s with 275/70 tires look like they have way too much sidewall.

It will take a while to pay off, but the tires for the 20's are about $15 to $20 less each because they are way more common. Well at least the Michelin's I looked up where. I'm not a huge fan of the wheel options, but the ones I got are one of the less annoying when you mix in the easy of cleaning factor. I'm actually looking for different wheels, but have not seen any I like enough to change them yet.

OP you should describe the uses for your truck so proper advice can be given. A garage queen that's all about looks and mall crawling might be good with twenties, but if its going to do any work or go off road you will need more side wall with better resistance from 18" sized tires.

I like the looks of 18s personally. 20s don't have enough side wall for my aesthetic taste.

But seem to be more tire options for 20s.

you can never have enough sidewall if you take your truck off road. and I am not talking about going hardcore mudding or anything but if you go hunting then you know every now and then there might be some times when you have to go through some mud ruts and the less side wall means more possibilities of scratching up your pretty 20" wheels and the side lugs on 20's are smaller than on 18's. I don't really go mudding but I don't mind getting my truck a little dirty.

I doubt this truck will see anything more than the occasional dirt road. It is a 2WD and I don't plan on taking it mudding. So 20s would be OK in my situation.
