18" wheels or 20" wheels

It must depend in the type of tire because all of the tires ( mainly all terrain type) cost more for 20's than 18's.

I think my durotracs are $100.00 more each in a 20 than an 18.

Personally I prefer 18's to have more sidewall for offroad and even for bad potholes. Less chance of bending a rim.

If you are buying it to use it as a truck, hunting, driving off the beaten path, 18's all the way. For the reasons already stated. I have to drive at least 2.5 miles just to see pavement, 3.5 miles the way I like to go.

If you are buying it to drive around town, or all paved roads, then the 20's might be a suitable choice.

I took my last truck hunting. It had 20's, I'll take my HC hunting too. I've never had a problem going down occasionally rutted dirt and gravel roads rollin' on 20's.

Just to add to the confusion, check out the factory 22's as well.

Yeah the SEY 22s sure look good. It's all about what you like and how you use your truck. We all have different expectations.

Personally, I think these trucks don't look right with 18s due to the size and shape of the wheelwell and fender. I wanted 20s on my truck but got such a good deal on it with the 18s that I decided to deal with it later. Really wishing I would have waited and got the 20s. The 18s with 275/70 tires look like they have way too much sidewall.

Are you the same as posted pics in a thread on GMFS I had asked about? Ruby red z71 with toyo at2s?

Your truck looks great if so. Why don't you like your setup? Perfect side wall and stance for me.

Off-road you want lots of sidewall, 18's would be better. Street...whatever suits your fancy. 20's look too ghetto for my tastes.

Yep, that's mine. I have a 1.5" body lift sitting in my garage ready to put on right now and I think adding that to the level that I have right now is going to make the wheels look tiny. Especially since on the next tires I'd like to go to 34" and wider than the 10.8" width I have now.

How do you like your AT2s? Do they ride nice? What's your mpg difference been from stock?

You guys are funny about your side walls. On one of my other cars I have 215/35ZR18, so my 20's have a huge side wall. LOL

I have ATs, not AT2s. The sidewall isn't aggressive enough looking for my tastes. It's a look thing, nothing to do with performance as I stated earlier that they probably won't see more than a dirt road. But the tires were free, so I can't complain too much. I'll probably put on a set of Duratracs or AT2 XT for my next set, just to get the more aggressive looking sidewall. The ride is stiffer since they are 10 ply, but some of that is the 2.5" level too. Can't tell you about the MPG difference from stock as the tires were put on the same day that I bought the truck.

I get your point, but not the same as this topic. Most cars now days have smaller sidewalls than any 20" truck wheel.

Talking trucks here: 18s for all the obvious reasons. 20s and up if pavement (smooth) queen and U do not care about a harsher ride.
