Carpet pad like material where front fender meets door?

Spotted this junk the other day. It looks just like the stuff they put under carpets. It's gray felt like and could get water soaked and lead to all kinds of problems. Anyone else see this sh.. in there front door jams?

You positive it's like felt, because mine is black rubber like everything else.

Is this what you are talking about? This is the only stuff between my fender and door.

that is wind buffing meant to keep the sound of the wind in the seams from whistling

They have seals around the grille, between the bed and cab etc. also. Meant to make it more aerodynamic.

Took a picture of each door it can be seen above and below the connector. Picture on my phone am not smart enough to post here.

It's just sound deadening. My 2011 has like 62k and it's fine.

Like Mike said it's sound deadening. My 2011 had it too, and it could be see with the door open. Never hurt anything.
