Have you Sold/Traded your 2014 Because of Problems?

Just curious as to how many have sold their vehicles as a result of problems. I hate to say it but I am out. I was able to get out of my 2014 LTZ Z71 for a couple grand on a new Tundra. Don't get me wrong, there were a lot of things that I loved about the truck but as the issues kept mounting I kept wondering what was next? Something that would kill resale like an Edsel? As I drove it down to the dealership where I purchased the new truck I kept saying to myself that overall they had good intentions when they released it but the problems and GM's reluctance to get on the problems and satisfy customers was too much for me. How many of you get the lipservice from the GM people saying, "I am so sorry you are having (fill in the blank) problems with your GM, instant message me." Then they post nothing on how they helped or didn't help out. I am not saying that the Tundra is superior at all, just a better choice for me and what I expect for the money. The problems I read that many had on these threads were not happening on my truck as I slowly put miles on it. Then they all slowly creeped in. One by one. This included the following:

1. Seat movement issues-Still unresolved and completely aggravating.

Seat padding that sounds like it is made of recycled water bottles. (Hey I should of noticed or thought of it right?)

2. My Link issues-Still unresolved-Favorites not showing up, dealer tried to fix, no luck.

3. Fire recalls-two so far to date. ( I know they weren't serious problems but they must have been enough to recall them)

4. Clunking transmission and vibration issues. (Normal?)

5. Incessant vibration or rattle behind the dash on the drivers side that after hours of trial and error I could not locate.

6. Paint along the bottom looking as though it was coming off or getting very thin. (An issue on a lot of newer vehicles)

7. Sunroof on Sunday shredded the little accordion trim piece when I tried to close it and almost bent up the whole mechanism. (The final straw).

I tried GM, I gave you a chance after swearing off for over 20 years. I wanted it to be like my other Nissans, Toyotas, Subarus over the years but I don't have the time to keep making appointments, waiting for parts to be ordered, getting a loaner, or trying the route others have taken and looked at the Lemon Law. This was supposed to be something this new truck and unfortunately it wasn't. Too bad because it does have some good qualities.

I hope I have better luck with the Tundra.

That's unfortunate. I loved my 08 Tundra for years. I traded it in for the 14 silverado and haven't looked back. I will say that just because I love this truck, I'm not only going to look at gm trucks when it comes time to buy a new one.

You are the 4th one I know, which includes dredd. There is another person on this site that did the same cant remember the name.

Count me also. After 3 1/2 months of ownership with 3 months of chasing a new interior rattle or squeak every time the temperature changed, had enough and went back to a Tundra.

I really tried to stay positive but the straw the broke the camels back was dash rattle that the dealership could not find or fix to save their ass and basically gave me the standard GM line of "that's normal".

Love the look but the quality is not there. I tried.

Hey, just wondering took my truck on a road trip, noticed a noise coming from the ride side rear like as if something was rubbing, I could get rid of the noise by playing with the gas peddle. Just wondering if anyone has had the same or simpler problem. Thanks

That makes you 5!

I hope to see you guys back here and please post the issues and things you DO NOT like with your Tundra's, and be honest. I'm neutral, just like to see.

I bought the first on the lot Silverado and a month ago traded it out for a 14 Sierra. I was so disappointed in the silverado for the vibration, seat movement that the dealer couldn't fix, frame rusting, seat cloth and foam wearing out and a few more things. I went to the dealer to possible trade out for a used 2013 F150 with the 5.0 that had 5,000 more miles on it then my silverado and I would have to give 2 grand to boot. When I got to the dealer I was waiting for the sales manger to finish up with another costumer and started looking at the Sierras and ended up test driving 2 and and buying one and never even looked at the f150. I just hit 1500 miles on the Sierra and honestly I wish I would have at least test drove the ford, I could swear at about 1200 miles I could feel a vibration (could be my OCD and paranoia playing tricks on me) and defiantly have one every morning when I pull out on the highway that seems to go away within 4 miles but it could be the tires flat spotting overnight. I don't know what the deal is but same driving conditions I'm getting about 1 mpg less on the Sierra even when I look at what I was getting when the silverado with the same amount of miles on it.

The dealer gave me 5000.00 less then what I paid like 10 months earlier and I had 13,000 miles already on it. I hate to loose 5000.00 grand but I hated the silverado so much I felt it was worth it. There is a guy trying to sell his 14 silverado on Craig's List for what they gave me trade in and he only has 6,000 miles and he can't sell it. The Sierra isn't perfect but it's much better then the silverado was, would the ford be better? Who knows, there was probably a reason it was traded into a GM dealer.

Yep! Only I was dumb enough that I traded for a different 2014 both complete turds. Nearly every problem you had sans sunroof.

I know exactly what you guys are saying about the resale values. I have had a variation of up to $8 grand difference from one dealer to another. Now that they are into the third recall that even though it is a small number diminishes values. I am so glad I am no longer an owner. It is a shame because I really wanted it to be a good experience.

I traded mine a month ago for a Ford F-250. I love GM and always have but this new product has turned me.

I have noticed a sound like a very slight hum coming from the front right. It can come and go with the AFM kicking in or out but it's not limited to that. It's such a faint hum that my GF can't even hear it and it really ticks me off that she can't. I drive around saying "can you hear that? How can you not hear that!" Funny thing is I've only noticed it with a passenger, if I'm alone I don't think I've ever heard it.

A woman's brain is wired differently, they only hear what they wanna here. lol

That sucks guys, oh well good luck with the new trucks! Please post stuff about them (negative stuff) thinking about trading the wife units equinox for a half ton. I've been keeping an eye on the issues with 14's and it does not look good. Especially for the price. F-150 with 5.0 is lookin really nice right now, never thought I would say such a thing. But for half tons, it's hard to compete with ford IMO... [emoji53]
