Range V8 - Light randomly goes off w/ truck on.

So I've had my Range on my truck for about 2 weeks and it's running great.

I noticed the last two days that the light on the box was not on. Same time and place both days.

I park in a parking garage for work and since it's much darker in there I can really notice that the light is on even though it's facing down. I back into the spot in the garage and happened to glance down while reversing and noticed that the light wasn't on. Finished parking, put the truck in park and looked down again. Truck was still running and the light was still off. Tapped the box and made sure it was seating and plugged in all the way and it was. A few seconds later the light came back on. Turned the truck off and the light went off 3-5 seconds later.

Does anybody elses Range V8 do this? I just called Range and they said to just keep an eye on it and it starts acting up they will replace it and check it out.

Just curious if this is happening to anybody else since I haven't ever heard it mentioned.

I noticed mine doesn't stay lit all the time. I've had it for a week or so and the other night was the first I saw it light up since it's been installed. Curious to see the other responses.

Maybe it's a computer thing and only comes on when the truck would have gone into V4 mode so the chip "activates".

Range mentioned something about a 3-stage light so maybe it's part of that. And if you ever have to call Range, they are supper nice and helpful. We ended up just talking about trucks for a few minutes after he address my initial question.

As far as I know, mine is lit up all the time when the ignition switch is on or the truck is running. It's a little bright on a dark night; thought about taping over the blue-light-special part.

Checked mine again on the drive home, It stayed on. Idk!

Upon further review, mine has 4 LED lights across the bottom of the front of the module. When I first plug it in and turn the ignition switch ON, the 3 LEDs to the right light up. When I start the truck, all 4 light up. Everything stays lit while the truck is running or ignition switch is ON. After turning ignition OFF, Range module stays lit for a few seconds and then goes dark.

If a Range representative is listening, could you please tell us what the proper light presentation is supposed to be (what LEDs are supposed to be lit, and when?)

Mine did the same thing. Light would be on sometimes and be off others. I don't know why it ever did it, but it did. The unit always worked tho. I believe that its part of their software and working with the stick computer to alter its ECU settings. Probably normal.

I have one for sale if interested. Its the latest software version. $150 shipped.

I read on their site a few days ago that they have a free software up date to deal with light issues and sometime CELs caused by a conflict between Range V8 and the new electric power steering signals over the high speed CAN Buss. They say it's nothing to worry about and only affects small fraction of users on 2014 & 2015 models. They have a page online that you print out. Fill it out and mail it to them with your module and a s.a.s.e. Turn around time was about a week I think.

I just bought a used AFM disable from a member on this site Nathan and he kindly sent it to Range to have it Updated for my 2014 and I haven't had any problems all week. It was also a free Updated unit.

I really couldn't tell you what the lights on mine look like, because I put black electrical tape over them quite a while ago. My GF already distracts me while driving the way it is...but having a bright blue light shining directly on my crotch made it even worse, haha.
