All runs it Toronto Motorsports park. All runs in 4wd.petro canada 94 octane fuel

Stock run 1/8 mile 9.85 at 73 mph.1/4 mile15.13 At 94 mph traction control on

Diablo sport big tune 1/8 9.88 at 73 mph 1/4 15.12 at 95 mph

Data logs with diablos big tune tells that there was plié of knock from 58 mph to the end of the run. Truck had to adjust the time 7 degrees to compensate.

Next Run was Same as above but took TC off and shaved off two tenths in the 1/8 and 2.5,tenths I the 1/4. Still lots of knock and hadn't changed( which I knew)Not good at all .

 

Next run was to pull three deg if timing at the 4000 to 5000 rpm range

Final run was 1/8 mile 9.46 at 74 mph and 1/4 at 14.71 at 95 mph. Still a fair bit of knock from85 mph to end of run but not as much as before. Truck had to compensate to about 3.5 degrees. I'm still not happy with the tuner. Not sure what kind of fuel to use . I have data logged many runs with Sunoco 93 ( but not at the track) and have.seen way to much knock. After today I have come to term with the fact that in my case, the tuner is only good for two things, removal of the top speed limiter and Turning off the v4 mode.

That is a ton of knock....

 

Good info, but contact a custom tuner quick...let them dial that thing in. PM me, I know of a tuner that I am sure would like a crack at it. He tunes on several devices and the diablo is one of them.

That's good info, thanks for sharing. The more I work on my timing map the more I find myself taking more and more timing out running 92 octane. I'm running less advance than stock in many places.

 

While it may be possible for a tune to get a nice bump in power, I believe the biggest ways a tune can improve your times are to:

 

1) Raise shift points. According to my dyno, raising the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts to the 6200-6300 RPM range will increase your total area under the power curve and result in faster times/better trap speeds.

 

2) Take care of the torque managment affecting launch (Stall Torque Managment, etc) which will allow you to launch at 2600+ RPM instead of ~1500 RPM which will improve your 60' greatly if you hook (4WD!).

 

If you gain much actual power from a tune, that's just gravy on the top.

Boom, I'm sorry your diablo sport is an overpriced speed limiter remover. I have tuned a handful of 6.2's since I last looked over your issue and one of which had the same tuner as you. I know I have talked good in the past on Diablo sport but after what I have seen on the '14 model canned tunes, I honestly can't see how they spent more than 15 minutes actually tuning on these trucks to create that tune. The 6.2 timing tables are pretty aggressive from factory and just needs trans improvements along with some torque nanny shaving to wake it up.

What kind of timing are you seeing with these new engines? Just curious.. Guess I could still try plugging in my dashhawk to see if it will work! lol

I shouldn't have answered that from memory. The optimum 2-3 shift is about 100 RPM lower than the 1-2 shift (so figure 6100-6200 for a stock engine) as the gears are closer together. For those interested in doing the math, the 2-3 gears are quite a bit closer together so you'd think the difference would be greater. The thing is the computer allows more TC slip at the 1-2 shift which makes up some of the difference. A 6300 shift from 1-2 puts it settling around 4050 RPM in second, a 6200 2-3 shift puts it around 4150 after the shift. Like I said, it's not exact as the converter varies its slip throughout the process.

    • No such thing as regenerative braking on a pure ICE vehicle.     Regenerative braking is the re-capture of energy from electric motors and stores it in the battery pack.  So hybrids, PHEV and EVs have regenerative braking.     What you are seeing is the charging system changing modes is all.  Its likely entering charge mode for some sort of reason is all.  All of the charging modes will be listed below.   As for L10 vs D.  L10 turns off automatic grade braking.  L10 puts you in control of grade downshifts where in D it will automatically do it based on brake pedal position and other factors.  Otherwise L10 and D drive exactly the same aside from that one aspect.    Battery Sulfation Mode The BCM will enter this mode when the interpreted Generator output voltage is less than 13.2 V for 45 minutes. When this condition exists the BCM will enter Charge Mode for 2–3 minutes. The BCM will then determine which mode to enter depending on voltage requirements.   Charge Mode The BCM will enter Charge Mode when ever one of the following conditions are met:   Windshield wipers are ON for more than 3 s. Climate Control Voltage Boost Mode Request is true, as sensed by the HVAC control module via serial data. High speed cooling fan, rear defogger, and HVAC high speed blower operation can cause the BCM to enter the Charge Mode. The estimated battery temperature is less than 0°C (32°F). Battery State of Charge is less than 80%. Vehicle speed is greater than 145 km/h (90 mph) A current sensor malfunction exists. System voltage is determined to be below 12.56 V When any one of these conditions is met, the system will set targeted generator output voltage to a charging voltage between 13.9–15.5 V, depending on the battery state of charge and estimated battery temperature.   Fuel Economy Mode The BCM will enter Fuel Economy Mode when the estimated battery temperature is at least 0°C (32°F) but less than or equal to 80°C (176°F), the calculated battery current is less than 15 A and greater than −8 A, and the battery state-of-charge is greater than or equal to 80%. Its targeted generator output voltage is the open circuit voltage of the battery and can be between 12.5–13.1 V. When fuel economy mode is active, the generator is not charging, only maintaining open circuit battery voltage. The BCM will exit this mode and enter Charge Mode when any of the conditions described above are present.   Headlamp Mode The BCM will enter Headlamp Mode when ever the head lamps are ON (high or low beams). Voltage will be regulated between 13.9–14.5 V.   Start Up Mode When the engine is started the BCM sets a targeted generator output voltage of 14.5 V for 30 s.   Tow/Haul Mode (if applicable) Pressing the Tow/Haul Mode button located on the center stack, the vehicle system voltage is raised and the remote (non-vehicle) battery will be charged. Having the headlamps on will raise the system voltage and if the Tow/Haul button is applied it will not serve any purpose. The voltage is regulated between 13.9-14.5 V.      
    • Hello from Australia Just sharing that there is now a way to delete the active shutters entirely with just a plug in module. Opens up tons of room to light bars etc.
    • I have an observation and a question... 1) I watch the voltage closely because I have had to dial in the cut-in/cut-out voltages of the battery separator to my camper.  The "smart" charging drives me nuts.  Anyway, I noticed that when coasting for a while, and especially if lightly using the brakes (though not necessary), the voltage goes up from mid/high-13 volts to mid/high-14 volts.  Then it drops back down after stopping or going again.  Consistently!   The only explanation I can come up with is REGENERATIVE BRAKING!  Well, maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration, but it's certainly free extra battery charging.   2) Driving on mountain roads I will use L and vary the max gear.  Things straighten out and I end up in L10.  Sometimes I leave it there for a while.  Is there any difference between L10 and D?   
    • Do you think this width might affect the chalk test with a higher pressure closer to 65psi? I think lowering the pressure makes sense to get the tread to lay flatter
