What to look for on an '07 Sierra with 200K?

Sooo...ran across an '07 Sierra SLT, 4WD, ext cab, 5.3 on lot today that is in great shape. Started looking her over and when I opened the door and slipped the key in and turned it on, the odo read 201K. My jaw hit the floor, this thing looks like it has maybe 50K.

Turns out it's a one-owner who used it to run across the state and back...a lot. It's apparently primarily highway miles and from the looks, I believe it.

So, my question to the vets on here, what should I be leery of on that model with that many miles? My '98 heavy 1/2-ton GMC doesn't have that many miles and is fantastic shape itself. Hard to justify the cost/upgrade but the dealer has it marked WAY down, ostensibly due to the mileage. My brother works at a GM dealer so I'm having him pull the history tomorrow. Barring anything really obvious or some serious "Run in the other direction" advice, I think I'll pick her up.

Thoughts?

If its the 4-Speed Auto then I would probably expect the transmission to be on its way out, if it hasn't been rebuilt already. If it's the 6-Speed, then you are one of the few out there with a 6-Speed that has that many on it, mostly cause most are below 200,000 miles still. Otherwise the engine is good I bet..

Is it the 99-07 or the 07-13 body style? Either way...trans probably needs rebuilt, wheel bearings / hubs, ball joints, tie rods, oil leaks, etc. Just a lot of regular wear items since its coming up on a quarter of a million miles.

Keep in mind high mileage vehicles are cheaper for a reason. Personally, I'd much rather pay a few grand more for one with 75k than get what seems like a good deal on a 200k truck. Also, in '09 the pickups started getting the six speed trans. Its a much more stout unit that nets you better power and mileage, presumably. Just food for thought.

Wheel bearings, ball joints, and the 4L60E transmission are the weak links. If it is an AFM engine, that might cause some issues with oil consumption.

As with all domestics, that kind of mileage is grounds for a perpetual money pit. So if it ain't cheap, I'd keep looking.....

About the advice I expected. Thanks for all the info. As enticing as this one is, I think I'll pass and spend a little more for one with half the mileage.

That mileage is pretty common around here in OK. So common I know people that are upset they can't find one with low miles.

I bought an 07 Crew 5.3l AFM with 180k... only thing i've done to it so far is replaced the Fuel Pump Control Module... Bought an extended warranty through my credit union to cover engine and trans.... Picked it up cheap

If it's got the right price, I'd buy it. Even if it does need a little TLC down the road. I'm going on 8 years in mine and 122k miles. I'll drive the wheels off this thing, put them back on and drive again.

Good friend has a 2000 with 380k ( ish ) miles on her, 3rd transmission, original Engine.... all in how you take care of them

it's just a shame that transmissions can't seem to be built/rebuilt to last longer then say.. 150k? :(

As long as it outlast the warranty is all the GM is concerned about

I want to think that is the old school way of thinking.. and that the automakers know darn well know that if they are to compete with each other, they need to be making a better longer lasting product to win loyalty and new buyers from vehicles that did not do so well.

Car makers sell new cars. Most people are turning over cars pretty regularly. This site is a good example. Many of the '14 owners are coming out of trucks with only a few years on them and under 100k miles.
