Advice on high mileage 2009...

Long story short, I had a 09 Z71 crew cab that I replaced with an Ecoboost, which I just sold (didn't like it as much as the Z71, and baby forced sale). I'm looking to get back into a used GMT900, and like the 6 speed in 09+.

I've found a 2009 LTZ 4x4 crew cab with 161k miles in my price range (~$15k). It's in great shape but I have concerns about how much serviceable life is left. I don't want to start a AFM debate, but I'm worried about possible oil consumption.

I located a dealer service history that only shows one repair, the throttle body assembly, and a recall 120k miles ago. There is no history of oil changes, but I can blindly guess they were done on time by the overall condition and up-keep of the truck.

Are there any other pieces of information you all can recommend for me to look into? It seems to be tight, clean, and doesn't feel any different than my old 09, even at 160k. Is $15k a fair price for this many miles?

Thanks in advance, looking forward to finding something soon!

It all comes down to how the vehicle was maintained, all fluid changes, and how it was driven (i.e. used for towing).

If the vehicle has been well maintained and mostly highway miles, should be a young 161k.

My thoughts as well... Wish I had documentation of the maintenance, but it appears to have been done frequently and on time. Thanks.

$15K for a vehicle with 161K miles seems high to me considering I paid $27K (with private offer) for my 2013 6.2 Texas Edition Silverado. I would think you could find a lower mileage for the same price and even better condition.

For those not in Texas the TE includes 20" chrome wheels, lots of chrome around the outside and don't remember what else. But the truck has everything I need or want.

I didn't think they had the 6 speed until 2010 in the half ton models.

I believe the crew cab 2009's got them, the others in 2010.

I'm struggling with the price as well, with no idea if the motor has oil consumption issues it's a huge gamble.

What about a 3/4 ton? Then you get the 6-speed, the bulletproof 6.0 and no AFM. The 6-speed was available since the beginning on the GMT900, and you can have more confidence in a truck with higher mileage.

I wouldn't want to pay that much for that truck.. I'd say go for it if you could get it for 12 to 13k

Yea, I agree, will make a firm offer in this range and move on if they aren't interested.
