Lemon Law

Moxie, I'm in the same boat! Dealer, service techs, field engineers and analysis agree there is a vibe. GM District manager disagrees, tells me he thinks "it rides better than most he's driven" and that he WILL NOT buy it back. Offered me $5K assistance and refused to negotiate. Leaves me almost $7K in the hole to get into a '15.

Feels like GM is reverting to the pre-bailout GM... Basically leaving me with no other avenue but to get a lawyer involved. $50K for the truck and tehy wont even stand behind thier warranty.

How many miles on the 14?

Unfortunately due to my long commute it now has 25K on it (exactly 1 year last week since I took delivery).

Problem has been there since mile #1, truck has spent more than 50 service days at the dealer while trying to fix.

-Yea, I know, I should expect to see a reduced value due to usage. However, I don't think I should be penalized for the miles I've had to drive while GM took their time to get to the point where they've exhausted their options to repair the truck.

The best advice i can give is stay cool and email the top people. I emailed Marry Bara a while back. Had someone call me to see if it was fixed. Had a follow up a few weeks later. Told them the seat wasnt working correct again and thw back was crooked now. A week or so later which was last thursday another top gm person calls and offers to buy back. Today all numbers were worked and they our giving me 46k for my 2014 silverado. That covers the -6k from my 2012 that rolled over also. This restored my faith in GM. Im very pleased with how they handled this. A local dealer worked with gm and is putting me in a 2500 with the 6.6 tonight. They called today ran my credit and also got me a lower apr then i previously had. Im very pleased with gm at this point. Also the manager said if I have any problems at all with this truck to call him and he will add on a 75k mile bumper to bumper extended warranty for free. Best advice and this worked for me this time was keeping my cool and not getting upset or raising my voice.

Donald,

SemperFi! I have a 2014 Silverado LTZ with 8500 miles I bought in July 2014 that has the vibration issue. It's been in the shop 4 times now and still has the same proble. The dealer has been very good at working with me and they even had a GM engineer out here to work on it, I asked them if they could buy it back or give me a great deal for a trade in but they told me I would have to work with my GM advisor.

I see you wrote Marry Barra an email, is it possible to share that email address with me? I already opened a case with GM prior to taking my truck in to the shop last week and I had a short conversation with an advisor. I called yesterday but it was late in the day and since Monday is a holiday I probably won't hear from her until Tuesday at the earliest.

At my age I don't like conflict and just want my truck fixed or replaced. I would like GM and my dealer to buy this back and not force me to go to the BBB and hire a lawyer. My plan is to contact Mary Barra in hopes that she or her executive team gets involved in my case.

I found this forum and it makes me feel a little better to see GM is buying back some of the trucks. I appreciate that you took the time to post your experience here and glad to see it worked out for you.

Thanks and God Bless

Executive Team has no authority and the two I talked with were not knowledgeable....mostly PR people. Most they can do is get a dealer to take another look. I had two different dealer Service Managers tell me that they offer little help in the end. A dealer can request a GM traveling tech take a look.

Sorry I see you did have the tech visit. BBB claims are painless and it worked well for me.

I believe that the Lemon Law in Texas was written by General Motors' lawyers!

In my case, I have the vibration issue. My 2014 Silverado 1500 DC, standard bed, 2-wheel drive was at the dealership 5 times for a total of 55 days for the vibration problem. Four (4) of those visits do not count towards the 4 trips specified in the Texas Lemon Law. Nor do the 55 days!. Why, because the dealership gave me a loaner vehicle for those days. Also, if the BBB or GM decides it is not a safety issue, tough luck!

What a one-sided law!

Ron,

Thanks for the heads up. When I called in today to speak to the senior advisor on my case I was sent directly to the executive team and was also given a new case number. The person I was forwarded to was unavalable and I got his voice mail with a message that he will return my call within 24 hours. Im not sure why I was given a new case number but I'll ahve to wait and see.

I'll give them until COB tomorrow and then I'll start the process with a Lawyer. I am sick to my stomach with all of this and all I want is GM to make things right for me.

I finally received the following email from the GM Executive Team yesterday:

Hello Mr.xxxxxxxxx , My name is xxxxx and I am contacting you from the Chevrolet Executive Office. This is in response to the email we received regarding the vibration concerns with your 2014 Silverado. I first wanted to extend my apologies for the inconvenience this concern has caused. We make every effort to lessen the burden on the customer; however, there are instances where it is out of our control. At this time, I have partnered with the dealership customer experience manager, our Technical Assistance team, and the Chevrolet field representative over the dealer. I confirmed with all parties that a technical Engineer was dispatched, and worked with the dealer to diagnose the vibration concern you have experienced. They found a concern with both rear shocks, which were replaced. They also foundthat the aftermarket running boards were attached to the vehicle’s body mounts and causing a vibration issue. Once they were removed, the vehicle’s ride quality improved.I am working with xxxxx Chevrolet as well as the field representative to determine the best possible course of action, and will update you as soon as possible. If you have further questions or concerns that I can address, please let me know. Thank you for being a valued Chevrolet customer.xxxxxxxx Chevrolet Executive Office

This is a joke. The Service Manager told me they removed the side step bar and it didn't make a difference. The mention of removing the side step bar is not even documented in the repair order. What's really bad is I call and leave a message and this guy from the GM Executive Office won't even return my calls.

Next step is BBB

Unless you put the stock shocks on it and leave the running boards off, I don't think you will get anywhere with the BBB. Both of those modification can affect the vibrations in the truck. When I had engine problems with a previous truck, I put the stock cat back on to remove that as an excuse. It is your word against their word and having modifications may place enough doubt with the BBB that they will side with GM.

The dealers service department and GM engineer replaced the shocks as a last effort but it didn't do any good. The person at the GM Exec Office received an email from the service manager stating the side steps were removed and the vibration was still present. The GM rep actually sent me an email and apologized. GM is looking into replacing the truck but can't give me any idea on when that decision will be made. They are really dragging their feet on this and have no loyalty to their customers.

GM repurchased my 2014 Silverado LTZ for the vibration issue, it was a very, very painful experience. First they wanted to replace it but I could not find another vehicle with the same MSRP. I had a 0% loan and wanted to do a colateral substitute and not refinance and I also didn't want to give GM another dime. I found a GM Sierra the same options as my truck but it was $4k different and GM wouldn't make the switch. I even tried to build a new vehicle with the same options as mine and the MSRP was more. I also went to the dealership and drove 7 GM trucks (Silverado's and Sierras) 5 of the 7 had the vibration issue.

Well long story short they made me an offer to buy back my vehicle and screwed me out of $4700 on my trade in. They gave me a bunch of bullsh!t about the trade in $ being funny money. Well I took the offer and am now driving a 2015 RAM 1500 Larimie and have been very happy with it.

BTW... the dealer gave me a copy of all the paperwork they received from GM and it states in the paperwork " Reason for repurchase - Transmission Vibration"

I have never felt so victimized in my life as I have been with GM. I have owned 16 GM vehicles in my life and I will never buy another one.
