My truck 1 year later!

So I have had my 2014 Silverado LT crew cab Z-71 4x4 for a year now, I purchased it days after they first arrived in the dealers here. I currently have 61000 km's / 37900 miles on it. Here is a list of what I have found and my likes & dislikes with the truck. These are my opinions only and may not reflect that of others:). fact is it's time is almost up and I will be trading for a new truck soon, Not sure if I will go with another Chevy or not, I have always been a Chevy fan at heart and owned some from all 3 of the American manufactuers, I refuse to buy anything other than North American built trucks and I do not currently like the looks of the Ram, I'll leave it at that:)

Likes:

- Typical smooth ride quality GM is known for.

- Comfortable seats, they seem hard but they dont seem to bother too much ( I have cloth seats).

- The My-Link connects nicely to phones and is easy to use.

- The new 5.3 engine is excellent on fuel and the power is decent.

- The hill decent feature works great.

- Super bright headlights are nice during our extended dark months

- Lot's of cab room.

- Alot of people (some of which are not even Chevy owners) comment on how good the truck looks.

- Very quiet interior.

Dislikes:

- Although the interior is alot better than the previous GMT it does not come close to Ford or Ram for the WOW factor.

- The flapper in the exhaust that freezes in cold weather is a PITA, I wired mine open.

- I have never had so many recalls on a truck in my life:( and I have had new models before.

- The drivers seat seems like there is a little movement & the drivers door squeaks, dissapointing on a new truck.

- Cab will leak dust if the conditions are right.

- Not much interior storage space.

- Heat & Cooling controls dont seem to work that good, when you turn off the AC it still seems to be on until you turn the heat up then back down? I dont know?

I haven't had many trucks so far in my life but the '14 Silverado is my first GM vehicle. I've owned a '98 F150 and '07 Tacoma which were both decent trucks. The F150 had more than its share of rattles and aggravations even with low mileage. I've taken the whole dash apart many times. The Tacoma had a few creaks but nothing major. I actually had to replace the drive shaft at 50k. I have 800 miles on my Silverado and I really like it so far. Its my dream truck and I have every option except the sun roof and 4x4 neither of which I need thus I didn't opt for them.

That being said all trucks have a few issues, especially a new model. I was saddened to see so many recalls on a 50k truck. I have bad radio reception on FM stations that I'm hoping a fix comes out soon. Other than that I would not purchase any other truck. I'm just not a fan of RAM and and the Tundra and for some reason I'm just wouldn't be excited about owning another Ford despite the great features of the upcoming 2015.

Thanks for your one year review!

not much storage space??? really??/

2 glove boxes plus the massive center console and under the rear seat storage. what are you trying to keep inside your trucks cab?

the exhaust servo issue kinda sucks, i remember reading about that a while back and now there is a overheating exhaust service bulletin..can leave it at idle for extended periods of time to warm up in the winter apparently.

Check out the new Ram, there must be at least 3 times the storage compartments all through out the cab, my truck is my office on wheels and it is nice to have alot of space for books, bags, tools etc.. The new Chevy has decent storage but the Ram spanked them in this department.

The overheating exhaust was a recall a few moths ago. They will reprogram the way the truck idles. It took my dealer about 15 minutes to complete the reprogram.

Good one year review... I definitely agree with all your likes. Mine also rides as smooth as glass as I think the majority of the '14's do (although there is a huge thread on this forum about "vibration issues", I have had NONE. Rides like a Caddy!)

I am 100% satisfied with my Silverado, no complaints at all.

Recalls don't bother me. I'm glad GM is fixing problems rather than brushing them under the rug and hoping they'll go away.

- Typical smooth ride quality GM is known for. Agreed

- Comfortable seats, they seem hard but they dont seem to bother too much ( I have cloth seats). Agreed, I have leather, but have ridden in trucks with both. Very comfortable seats.

- The My-Link connects nicely to phones and is easy to use. Agreed, the GMC Intellilink connects flawlessly to my iPhone 5 every time I get in.

- The new 5.3 engine is excellent on fuel and the power is decent. Agreed. Although, I don't think the 5.3 is any slouch.

- The hill decent feature works great. Haven't used it offroad. But I do like the hill start assist when stopped on an incline and letting off the brake, the truck wont roll backwards.

- Super bright headlights are nice during our extended dark months. This seems to be a point of controversy on these trucks. I personally think the headlights are fine. Other think they are no better than a flashlight waved in a dust storm.

- Lot's of cab room. I have a double cab. For me its perfect. When I have people in the truck, I sometimes wish I got a crew cab for the extra comfort factor.

- Alot of people (some of which are not even Chevy owners) comment on how good the truck looks. I get lots of compliments on the look and sound of my Sierra. The Corsa really gets people jazzed.

- Very quiet interior. Always the first thing people notice when they ride in the truck.

Dislikes:

- Although the interior is alot better than the previous GMT it does not come close to Ford or Ram for the WOW factor. Not sure what you mean. The Ford interior is pretty dated. And has lots of hard hollow plastic.

- The flapper in the exhaust that freezes in cold weather is a PITA, I wired mine open. Yep, that thing is junk. I clamped mine open before I put on the cat back. Doesn't seem to do anything but cause trouble.

- I have never had so many recalls on a truck in my life:( and I have had new models before. Lol yep. My truck is at the dealership now for 2 recall reprograms. 1. Random shift into neutral 2. speedo/odo reprogram

- The drivers seat seems like there is a little movement & the drivers door squeaks, dissapointing on a new truck. Seen this issue on the forums, but my seat seems to be fine. No movement. My last car had a loose seat tho, so I know how annoying that can be.

- Cab will leak dust if the conditions are right. ???

- Not much interior storage space. Definitley don't agree here. There are a million storage pockets on the doors. A huge center console and a TWO glove boxes.

- Heat & Cooling controls dont seem to work that good, when you turn off the AC it still seems to be on until you turn the heat up then back down? I dont know? Havent had an issue with mine. But I rarely use the AC, but if I do I just leave it on Auto and it seams to get the job done.
