incredible thinking in the form of a truck.

Well here I am complaining about my truck once more. The 04 HD has leaky doors and water gets into the seat heater controls and since water is an excellent conductor, the seat heaters turn on all the time. I left work for lunch today and it was 90 out and I work in a warehouse (part time because I'm 17) so I was hot to begin with. I got tired of constantly turning themy off and decided to pull the fuse when I got home just for the sake of my sanity. I looked in the manual and discovered that the heater controls are on the same circuit as the ignition. So there goes that idea and I'm back to dealing with it. Just thought I'd give you all a little laugh at the top notch design that GM is capable of.

You complain that a ten year old truck has leaky doors. Have you thought about maintaining your truck and repairing the leaks?

BTW: Pure water is an insulator. It's the impurities like metal oxides and salts in it that make it a conductor.

You can unplug the seat heaters from under the seats. Takes a couple of minutes. That might make you a little happier until you can fix the leaks.

You wouldn't believe how much I have tried to fix those dang doors! I took the whole thing apart and even sealed the control units with silicone. I don't know what else to try. And for the record it's not a maintenance problem because it has done that since day one. My father bought the truck new in 03. I'm convinced that this truck is a lemon because of all the problems we have had with it especially for it being low milage (86,000). I never thought to unplug the heaters on the seat though. I appreciate the idea.

That's to bad, but there is a problem with your truck. I have had two GMT 800 trucks and they both never had leaking doors. Did you take it to the dealer before on the issue while it was under warranty? If so they should be able look at and try to repair it under the same problem.

Get a 2x2 or a 2x4 and "tweek" your window frames to be a bit tighter against the cab of the truck when the door is closed.. Or check your latch adjustment and hinges to make sure they are seating properly. Your problem is not the door seal. Its the door alignment to the seal...

Bending the doors is a band aid fix... If they leak it needs new pins, latches, or seals (or possibly all). It's amazing how bad one little thing can make you pissed at a vehicle. Been there lol.
