jstevens Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Hi all. I'd like some input on my situation and pending purchase scenario. I have been contemplating a purchase since April. I will get a 1500, crew cab, 4wd LTZ or SLT since I'm virtually indifferent between gmc/chevy. I Originally assumed that the prices I saw in March would decline to "pull the trigger" levels by June or July. In actuality, prices have stayed the same or went slightly higher on the several trucks at local dealers that I've been tracking. Now, I've waited so long with no price movement, I'm to the point of waiting until the 2015's get released in hopes of getting a better deal. I have little knowledge on what happens when the new models hit the lot in terms of initial pricing and potential drop in pricing of the 2014's. My questions(for anyone who can offer up some educated answers or opinions): 1. WHEN will the 2015's hit the lot? Early Sept? 2. Any educated guesses on "day 1" pricing of the 2015's in relation to current pricing of a 2014? i.e. what's the gap going to be between the two? 3. Is it safe to assume the 2014's will drop in price? What would a typical price drop be? I realize a lot of this is guessing and dependent on future incentives, dealer inventory, etc. I just have no background in buying new models and the transition at a dealership that takes place in pricing. Would like to hear about typically what's happened in years past. Any help appreciated!
MNDaveC Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Might depend on success of October release of the new F150. That might heat up competitive pricing incentives.
beerguy214 Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 They have pretty good rebates right now.I was in the dealer the other night and gave me a good price but they said to wait till august and it should get better or stay the same but I am looking at getting a 14.
RadoRage Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 I price watched before buying and saw a decline to roughly 10-12000 off msrp at my local dealers. I pulled the trigger at that time a few weeks ago. Generally there are steeper discounts as new model year inventory makes it to the lot. The amount of those discounts will depend on your market area and manufacturer/dealer offers as well. If you haven't bought yet and don't need a new vehicle today, I'd wait a few months until inventory builds for the 15 and buy a 14 then. I usually buy my vehicles new at the end of the year (December) cause I've always found the best deals around that time of year. This time I needed a new one so bought earlier than I wanted.
clarkdk Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 15's just started rolling down the line a week ago. My tpw ( per my dealer ) is 8/25

The dealer said wait a month? I laughed hard at that. I've never seen a dealer walk a sale like that. But as to better incentives, I think they will ramp up more around September / October as opposed to August, Have to have some 15's on the lot to compete against.
beerguy214 Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Well vetteboy if you read the post right I was there the other night.I could of walked out of there that night with the truck but they ran out of ivt coupons for the month.I would guess you don't know what those are since you know so much.lol.Well they will get more August first and will save me a 1,000 dollars. So I have to laugh at you for not knowing what you are talking about.I love people that know so much.lol.
msaul37 Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 i'm wondering the same. the 1st is almost here and i 'don't need' a new truck. most offers end september 2nd or 4th.. but some others end july 31. the only thing that has me is if i wait til september/october, i won't have the exact truck i want. black all star crew cab LT short box 4x4 with the 4.3 are very rare around here. only 1 around here and it's a demo.. not a knock on it, i don't mind it, but just saying.

Oh yeah you're right, they'll start chopping $15-20,000 off msrp by then. I think you should negotiate for me, I'd like a fully loaded CC 6.2 denali for $40k- you get the deal I'll give you $1000 cash plus a bridge in Brooklyn!

No, I'm the first to admit I don't know what an IVT coupon is. Google doesn't either- care to enlighten us? 2. Your first post stated "wait till august and it should get better or stay the same". Very different from wait 48 hours until we get a replenishment of $1000 vouchers. My comment was simply remarking on a dealer walking a sale with the information you provided. I hope you do get a good deal on the truck, GM puts a ton of markup on the MSRP of these, I got 26% off of msrp in the middle of the model year and those of you that wait will hopefully get even more.

Sarcasm aside, I dont think 15,000+ off msrp is that much of a stretch. I already see advertisements for 13,000 off msrp, granted you have to qualify for all those rebates which is hard but can be done.
14 Silverado Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 I purchased mine on the Fourth of July weekended they took 10k of the price and I got the 0 interest rate for the life of the loan. They also already had some 2015 silverado's on the lot. Went there yesterday and they only have 3 2014 models left.
