Are Weathertechs Junk?

I figured out part of my problem. Apparently there are little plastic "thingys" that are supposed to screw into the carpet on the passenger side to hold the mat in place. My set didn't come with the plastic "thingys".

 

That still doesn't make them fit better. It also doesn't help fronts and rears are two different colors.

 

I actually really like the rear mat. It seems to be made of an entirely different material than the fronts. The fronts are hard plastic while the rear is a softer rubbery material.

 

I boxed them up so I can ship them back for Huskies instead.

 

Sorry for my rants...they just didn't meet my standards, especially for the price.

Forgot to mention that it has been 98 plus here in Kansas City this weekend. When I took them out to box them up, the front mats were exuding some sort of oil on the bottom. Kinda felt/looked like vegetable oil. I'm assuming it's something to do with the makeup of the plastic. I'm wondering how much of that soaked into the carpet over the last few days.

 

Anyway, if Weathertechs worked for you and you like them, good. I wouldn't pay half they are asking for them. I hope I like Husky better.

I got the Husky Weatherbeaters and they are great for my 2014 truck.

Have the WT's front & rear, black and they match up fine. That being said the material composition differs slight between the front pair and the rear one piece but on top of black carpet I personally have never noticed a color variance and thus have no regrets with them

I just purchased a set for my 2014 I removed them from the box and let them sit out in the heat for a couple hours they was really flexible then I install them they fit perfectly.

If anyone gets the Husky liners you should get the X-ACT CONTOURs. They look and fit better than any of the other Husky products, plus they are not hard they are flexible. Great product, however I went with the Aries 3D because they fit perfect and the 2nd row liner covers the entire back of my CrewCab, even under the seat.

My vote goes with the Huskies. Super fit and no problems with them todate.

No the Weather Techs are not junk, but the Husky's fit better in the 2014's, IMO. From what I understand Weather Tech has a version 2 for the 2014's that fit better on the passenger side and have screws to lock the liner into the carpet to keep it from sliding and distorting along the kick panel. I think the OP has Version 1 liners?

 

The X-act Contours might look a hair nicer (not much if any) than the Weatherbeaters, but they both fit perfectly in the 2014's. The Weatherbeaters give more coverage and options, such as a hump liner in the front. Also an option for either the small foot only area rear like the X-act, or a full liner that goes to the back of the cab.

 

I have some pics of the Weatherbeaters up in my gallery that show the fit, and with the OEM mats on top. A few of the pictures are distorted from either my phone not knowing which way is up or operator error. The jury is still out on that.

 

The 2014 Weatherbeaters lock onto the posts on the drivers side, and the passenger side has molded in carpet spikes to keep it from moving around.

I'm curious, if you had weathertechs in your last 3 vehicles how do you know the latest Husky Liners (for example the Xact-Contour) are Junk?

 

Edit: they all seem to do what they are designed to. Its mainly just personal preference.

Mine are fine. I have them in my truck and in my wife Traverse. No issues.

 

Same here. Both cars and no problems.

 

I would call weathertech and ask for a new front set.

i had the weathertech's but got rid of them. they slipped all around...they don't have any nubbies on the back to hold them in place. they come with an attachment hook that you are supposed to screw into the carpet, but mine promptly ripped out. in my opinion, they are way overpriced and i wouldn't buy them again.

I thought I should update this since i kind of trashed the WT mats. I got my Huskys in the mail today. The front Huskys are MUCH better than the WTs. They fit 1000 times better and they don't move around AT ALL since they have little spikes all over the back.

 

I think the rear Husky mat is just OK. The WT mat was better fitting and much thicker/heavier. I think once the Husky mat settles down (it was folded up in the box in 90+ degree weather on my front porch all day) it will fit better, but it still won't be as good as the WT.

 

All in all, if you want great mats order the Husky front mats and the WT rear mat. (FYI I'm talking about the mat that covers the entire rear floor of a crew cab)

 

I wonder if the good folks at Autoanything.com will let me return the Husky rear for the WT rear...even though I just send the WT back on Wednesday.

 

Sorry I accused the WTs of being junk. I hope this helps others thinking about mats.

 

I forgot to mention the Husky front and rear mats were all the same color while the front WTs were black and the rear WT was a dark charcoal gray. Not that you could really tell since you can't see them both at the same time.
