I have an 82 chev 3/4 ton pickup and the heater core started leaking. redirected hoses until I could fix it. I have just replaced the heater core and put on new heater hoses and now the truck is overheating. Please help!

You may still have air in the system that needs to be bled out. Once the air is out you'll probably find that your coolant level is low.

Thanks! What are the correct steps to bleed the air?

Some generic solutions on youtube, search on "chevy coolant bleeding".

Remove radiator cap, start engine, wait for it to warm up and t-stat opens, let air bleed out. Refill as necessary. The front end can be jacked up slightly to make sure the open cap is the high point. There also may be a bleeder valve on your radiator too. Methods I remember anyways. But as Kent said, lots of instructionals on YouTube.
