cold weather warm up sucks!!!! gm rep reply please

I am up here in Canada ,my 2014 gmc just sucks for heat on start up in morning ,-15c and truck does not warm up ,heated seats are turned on they are stone cold and I do have them activated in menu .it is a joke the 10 min remote start cycle ,I just spent $450 on a new 2 way remote start with a 45 min run time cycle, still not warm ,what is gm thinking .sorry for the rant, the last straw was my buddy and his family staying over the other nite he starts his 2011 ford f150 and it toasty warm in 10 min .I really though they would have fixed this ,I had same issue with my 2012 Silverado ,gm should have a cold weather option for colder climates like the northern states and Canada .next time I mite try a ford,gm rep please reply to my post !!!

There are several things GM dropped the ball on with the new truck that the previous generation did just fine. Heated seats and HVAC operation are just a couple of them.

Got to agree with cbprov. These trucks take a long, long time to warm up and produce cabin heat. In the warm weather months my truck is up to operating temperature within 2 km (about 1 1/2 miles). This time of the year when the temp drops below 0C I have to drive anywhere from 10 to 15 km, or more depending on how cold the outside temperature is, before the truck gets to its operating temperature. Even after using the remote start feature for the full ten minutes the engine does not move the temperature guage off the low mark and there is still no cabin heat when you get in it. I shudder to think what it will be like when we get the really cold weather with temps of -20 to -30C and this is not really cold for many parts of Canada nor the northern US states.

 

I suspect the problem has to do with the computer program - it probably does not allow the system to send any warming air to the cab until a certain engine temperature is reached, and as I said before, it takes a long time for the engine to warm up. In the summer months the a/c works immediately and is great. But it looks like the cold weather months are going to suck.

I have a 2015 Silverado LTZ. Personally I don't think the heated seats are working at remote start. I wonder if there is a bug!?!?!

Well I thought that it was just me. My heated seats did stop working about a week ago, that I know for sure and need to get my 2014 LTZ in for that. As far as the heater in the truck; it sure as hell does take a long time for the truck to warm up. I can go through two remote start cycles and it still isn't warm. It was fine when the heated seats were working but now that they conked out everything is cold until I drive several miles down the road. It kind of makes the remote start a waste of money and time.

Maybe it's the build date. My heated seats come on with the remote start. They don't burn me when I sit on them but I never let it run for more than a few minutes anyway. After several minutes, they are getting warm. I will also say that even though it takes a little while for the heater to blow hot, I've never seen a hotter heater in 40 years. The air will get so hot I can't hold my hand in the air stream very long without removing it.

RVJ the heat will not get hot while in remote start mode, it only gets luke warm. Same for the seats where on the previous trucks the seats got fully hot and the heat was on full hot while under remote start mode.
