I don't use the remote start so that I'm all comfy and warm in the winter. I use it so that the engine gets a chance to warm up a little bit before I take off with it.

5 minutes or so and then I start driving. Once I am driving, it warms up quick enough.

my heated seats don't work either on remote start, nor does the truck heat up.

once I put the key in though, the seats warm up pretty quick and the cabin. the steering wheels heats up within seconds.

Sorry, gotta ask - is the 'heated seat on remote start' setting turned to 'on'?

Yep. The setting on or off. No heat on remote start. Besides the horrible fm radio this is just as bad.

Just don't feel like dealing with dealer. It's inconvienient and they'll prb mess somethin else up. I've already had. 4 recalls done. I mean when can we actually enjoy these trucks. Hate to say it. Ford doesn't have any of these issues

On my 08 the heated seats would turn on with the remote start, but it would still be cold when I first sat on them, that's because there is no pressure on the seat to press down against the heating elements. Once the weight gets on the seats, aka your ass, they will warm up juuuuuust fine.

My truck has been at the dealer for a week with seat and heat issues. They finally called and said that they ordered new units for the seats (they didn't work at all) and had to wait for the parts. They are still checking the heat/engine warm-up/ temperature. In fairness, I am traveling for work so I told them I didn't need the truck right away. Hopefully, it will be ready (AND FIXED PROPERLY) when I get back next week. I've always had good luck with this dealer. I have had them service my Corvette a number of times so they already know that I am picky, which is fine by me.

So if you just put a big bag of rice in the seat at the end of the day it will help heat the seat for the next morning. It's pretty cold for my location, so I'm going to do a little test to see how this works. I actually started it up earlier with the remote playing around and then couldn't shut it down with the remote, so I tried the app with no long. I ended up walking out and putting the key in to shut it down. By the way cold for my area is only 48 degrees, but since It only gets to 32 degrees one night every other year, this is pretty cold.

Put a thermometer in the truck and gave it a good while to get to outside them. Walked out to truck and it matched current temp at 46.5 degrees. Got in truck and did remote start. My seat got warm in about full warm in about 3 minutes. The passenger seat was not warm, but when I touched the back of the seat I realized it was not at all cold, so it does warm up just not what you are used to feeling when you are in the seat. By the end of the 10 minutes the truck was only up to about 187 degrees, so I can see the real cold weather takes a long time. You will have to use both 10 minute starts, but at these temps shouldn't you be using the block heater also? Maybe you can wire it to a switch you control from inside. Then you can start with that before the remote start, as it would be better for the motor while helping get to temp fast enough. The inside temp on my gauge was up to 53.5, but it was climbing slow so maybe it was behind a degree. Don't know that this will help any of you, but I wanted to see after reading this and figured it couldn't hurt to tell the story.

Block heater is meant for temps below 0 in the GMT-900s and newer if I recall correctly from the owners manual in my 08 Dmax. I believe the block heater cords have a thermostat built into them and won't activiate even if it is plugged in, unless it's below a certain temp. Someone with a factory block heater will need to quote from the owners manual for these new trucks.

Some of the guys in here are below freezing. The OP is at -15c and there was a guy at 5f, so they could both use it from my understanding.

Owners manual recommends using block heater if below 0F(-18C). Block heater cord may have a thermostat that prevents is working above the recommended temperatures.

From the manual:

Engine Coolant Heater
The engine heater can provide
easier starting and better fuel
economy during engine warm-up in
cold weather conditions at or below
−18°C (0°F). Vehicles with an
engine heater should be plugged in
at least four hours before starting
An internal thermostat in the
plug-end of the cord may exist,
which will prevent engine coolant
heater operation at temperatures
above −18°C (0°F).
