Leveled with 305/50R20's

Recommended Posts

Hey,
I'll soon be the owner of a new 15' Sierra 1500 All Terrain, but before I take possession I'm planning on getting a few things done to it.
For sure it'll be getting a 2.5" level up front and extra inch out back then a slightly more aggressive tire.

Here it is fresh off of the delivery truck:

This is where my dilemma comes in... from what I've read I should be fine with a 33x12.5 on stock 20's.

Initially I was set on a set of Toyo AT2 Extreme's in either a 295/55r20 or 305/55r20 depending on availability and price.
I want to stick with an All-Terrain tire as I drive 90% highway, and also will be running them year round so they have to be decent in the winter.

I recall a few people mentioning the Cooper Zeon LTZ's as a pretty good tire for the price, but the closest size they come in 305/50r20.
I don't mind not "stuffing" the wheel wells but I also don't want the tires to look too small either... does anyone have pics of that size mounted on a leveled 14+ ?

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!

305/50/20 is going to be tiny, there is no getting around it! Stop second guessing yourself.

That 2in. rear block might put the rear just a little taller then you like it, someone needs to find a 1 1/2in. block for the rear.

Check out this thread, you will fins the size and brand that fits your needs.

Thanks for the link, I've actually scoured that thread and many more trying to find exactly what I want... but sometimes it helps just to ask the question, haha.

I'm still torn on adding the rear block or not too... I know a perfectly "level" truck with a measuring tape looks nose high IMO. I've seen trucks online with the rear block and it looks ok to me.

I also tow a trailer occasionally so I'm ok with an inch of rake in the back. That said, the whole point of leveling it is too lose the stink bug stock rake...

From my online conversions....

Stock 275/55r20 = 31.9x10.8

295/55r20 = 32.8x11.6

305/50r20 = 32x12

305/55r20 = 33.2x12

The 305/50's will hardly be any taller, but I think it might still look ok because of the added width. It's hard to say without actually seeing it, hopefully someone has a picture to help me decide.

Here's mine with 305/50/20 Terra grapplers. I just have a 2" level though. There really not any taller than a 275/55/20 but the added width definitely improves the stance. Speedos still accurate too.

Debadged, removing the front airdam, leveled, and tires make it perfect!

If you're going to modify suspension and tires, get it right the first time because it's costly. A slight change you probably will be happy with for about a week then regret not going "all out". Just my $0.02 from experience

Truck looks great langston1726, those tires don't look too small on your truck but it's probably because of the higher offset wheels. I'm a fan of smaller tires on offset wheels... I'd rather that than a taller narrower tire "stuffing" the wheel wells.

Although seeing that I'm going to be running the stock 20's I think it's a safer bet to shell out the extra coin and stick with the 295 or 305/55r20's.. from what I've read those toyo AT2's are a great tire and I love how they look, especially the "Xtreme" version.

What size tire and lift is that on your rig?

Assuming you're talking about the above truck... its not mine, but it has a 4" lift with 305/55r20 (33x12) toyo at2 extreme tires.

I just posted it to showcase the tread pattern and side profile of the tires.

Thanks - I looked at the specs on that tire and it's not only expensive, it's heavy (10 ply) and weighs 74 pounds. I was looking at either the 305/50R/20 or 275/60R/20 on my stock wheels. Mine is the 2015 SLT with the polished aluminum wheels and I don't see any reason to change those. The 305/50R/20 is a 32" tire and the other is a 33" tire. Don't know that 1 inch makes enough of a difference to throw off the other things like the speedometer and odometer. At least the 305 tire is wider and makes it look like a truck.

Yeah the 10ply and deep lugs add to the overall weight for sure... for that reason alone I might stick with the 295/55r20's.

From Toyo's website:

Size: Load/Speed: Rim: Weight: Tread: Dia: Width: Max load:

LT295/55R20 123/120S 10 E XT 8.0-9.5-10.0 60 16.3 32.8 12.2 3415

LT305/55R20 121/118S 10 E XT 8.5-9.5-11.0 74 16.3 33.2 12.4 3195

For 0.4" in overall height and 0.2" in width I can't justify 14 extra pounds per tire, and even less load capacity.

I am running the 2.5 level kit up front only. 295 / 55 / 20s.799354cdd483332aa859a2097bdd1601.jpg5706197bfad094f7b41470fc51a6627c.jpg4a7b71d1c946c0b11be5098ea16df75e.jpg2dccd6313bb0e2fac143c5a62906a046.jpg

Rough country 2.5"? What type of tires are you running?

Also any idea what your fender to ground measurements are?

Thanks, truck looks great!
